Indeed. How dare it!
Indeed. How dare it!
Fingers crossed for positive news, I worry about it myself with all the hours pissing around on guitar. 😩
I'll bring you some cake if things are really that bad, mate. ;)
In other moving news, I may own too many board games.
Books I'm looking forward to this year - NYRB is publishing a translated collection of Grossman's war reporting for Red Star (including some pre-censored articles), including his dispatches from Stalingrad that informed his later novels.
New movie critic column, and it's just you being a pedant about film titles.
No doubt the CIA is just itching to once again fund and train a new Iranian secret police to torture people who don't support Shah 2.0.
I'd look like that too if I were forced to reside in Yorkshire for eternity. :P
How the fuck is it only March?
Congrats on the nom, and good to see Paul on there too. :)
Just do yourself a favor and press play.
She's very much the first colourist who comes to mind when I think of that DC era that was responsible for the founding of Vertigo.
Sad to hear of the passing of Tatjana Wood. While Alan has always got the lion's share of the credit, her colours, as well as Bissette's fantastic panel layouts, are a large part of what makes the Swamp Thing run so great.
There's one thing that sticks in my mind these days more than ever - "Yet the wholly enlightened earth is radiant with triumphant calamity."
Any day that you wake up to discover Reform has lost is a good day.
Very nice! I can't say much, I've been at it fifteen years and I'd say I'm half decent at this point haha.
Following in his old man's footsteps with a jab at a failed music career first, huh? ;)
Is he of the hand that is sinister?
For dignity's sake, let's say more than ten and leave it at that.
The first six seasons are superb. A large part of my youth, and particularly meaningful because the person who introduced me to it was a friend of my mother's and sometime babysitter who killed himself about 15 years ago. Sorry for your loss, my friend.
Moving. Once again regret buying so many books.
Recently re-watched Melville's occupation trilogy. L'Armée des ombres is the star of course, but Le silence de la mer has some wonderfully tense moments, and Belmondo is excellent in Léon Morin, Priest.
The latest members of an ever-expanding collection.
Prof Roberts has known me long enough now to know I'm still very disappointed in him, even if I don't see them.
Recently picked up the new gorgeous reproduction of Amano's storyboards for Oshii's Angel's Egg.
I guess everyone is here now? Suppose I should put a bit of effort in to show I am not dead yet.
@rjbarker.bsky.social Hey RJ. Was thinking about you the other day and was going to email to say hi but then I realized that since we used Twitter the last email between us was 15 years ago and may not be current (time flies!). Still the same address (DBD)?
