Don’t miss this paper by @jrozasub.bsky.social group, with interesting findings on genome size evolution on a 🕷️’s radiation on oceanic 🏝️
Moreover, they present the complete genome of Dysdera catalonica included in the @catbiogenoma.bsky.social
project

A third paper comes out. I want to stress that sequencing and annnotating the complete genome of the Balearic shearwater, under the umbrella of the @catbiogenoma.bsky.social, has been key to develope this work. Showing how the efforts of the @ebpgenome.bsky.social will help biodiversity conservation
10/10 None of this would have been possible without the contribution of all our great collaborators: Cristian Cuevas-Caballé, Francesco Giannelli, @josieparis.bsky.social, Karen Bourgeois, @emitruc.bsky.social, Jacob González-Solís, Marta Riutort, @joanferrerobiol.bsky.social & @jrozasub.bsky.social
Genome Size Reduction Under Non-Adaptive Evolution: How Evolution Halved Genome Size During an Oceanic Island Radiation. Today talk by Sara Guirao-Rico in @eseb2025.bsky.social congress, and accepted ms. in MBE academic.oup.com/mbe/advance-...
Great talk of @jrozasub.bsky.social about genomic basis of convergent dietary specialization in Dysdera species 🕷️, last week at the #SEG2025. With @biophotoist.bsky.social, @irbio-ub.bsky.social, @geneticsub.bsky.social, @ub.edu, @ull.es, @biogeneurope.bsky.social, @ergabiodiv.bsky.social

In five years, SARS-CoV-2 became one of the most closely examined viruses on the planet. A feature in Nature outlines four lessons from the pandemic that some say could empower the global response to future pandemics. 🧪
Resulting from an @snsf-ch.bsky.social SPARK grant this took some time to mature, but the outcome is very imformative and builds a foundation for where to head next - how to liberate facts/information locked in the published literature #textmining #biodiversity preprints.arphahub.com/article/1531...

Presenting our BGE’s spider Dysdera curvisetae case study to the community of researchers at the bi-annual meeting XXIV SGPE @segenetica.bsky.social. Talk given by @jrozasub.bsky.social from @ub.edu.

A macro photo close on the face of a very hairy, orange-brown spider. It's resting on yellowish dried dirt from a termite mound. The spider has a walrus-mustache look to it. Four of its eyes are forward facing.
I found this hirsute spider hunting on a termite mound at night. Looked a bit like a wolf spider from a distance, but guessing it's in the family Trechaleidae or Ctenidae, based on the eye pattern.
