The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countriesโ€”including the United States.

That Iranian Navy ship we torpedoed had no ammunition on board because that was a requirement to participate in the MILAN 2026 exercise (organized by the Indian Navy).

The US Navy knew this because IT ALSO PARTICIPATED IN THE EXERCISE. What a national embarrassment.

I planned to share my report on the body cam footage early next week when I learned that a DC news station had obtained some of the footage as a result of my lawsuit and they were going to scoop me. After working on this for a year, I couldn't let that happen. Published 2 mins before they aired :)

S.F. mayor, board president propose 3 ballot measures to expand executive branch power The three measures emerged from charter reform efforts that involved getting input from a 31-person working group

San Francisco already has a strong mayor system, but thatโ€™s not enough for those who want full control vested in billionaires.

Just in time for No Kings Day, Lurie and Mandelman argue โ€œGiving more power to the mayor would create more โ€œaccountability.โ€

Because she was working with a federal task force, she was considered a federal officer, and thus protected by SCOTUS rulings making it all but impossible to sue federal cops, even for egregious abuse.

Now consider what this means for Trump's immigration thugs.

Democrats had two years to fix this.

In each of these cases identified by the district court, the court found that, on the plaintiffsโ€™ version of the facts, law enforcement officers had used excessive force against individuals who had stopped resisting, were attempting to flee, and/or were only โ€œpassively resisting, i.e. . . . not complying, but . . . also not attempting to fight back.โ€ With the possible exception of Yates, which involved the deployment of a taser, we agree that this collection of cases clearly establishes that Deputy Wrightโ€™s use of force would be excessive if the facts taken most favorably to Barricks were established. See Ashcroft v. Al-Kidd, 563 U.S. 731, 741 (2011) (recognizing that for a law to be clearly established in the context of 11 qualified immunity, we do โ€œnot require a case directly on point, but existing precedent must have placed the statutory or constitutional question beyond debateโ€). And although there may be some factual distinctions with the case currently on appeal, these cases surely provide particularized examples of constitutional violations involving the use of excessive force โ€œunder similar circumstancesโ€ to those in the altercation between Barricks and Deputy Wright. White, 580 U.S. at 79.

Immediately after the arrest, officer told his girlfriend he "fucked his face up."

Americans Stranded in the Middle East Arenโ€™t Getting Help from the State Department โ€œPlease do not rely on the U.S. government for assisted departure or evacuation,โ€ a State department hotline said when NOTUS called Tuesday afternoon.

I feel like we typically see these sorts of completely outraged opinions from federal judges a couple times a year across the whole country, maybe a little more often in last few years. Now, in cases stemming from Trump's immigration crackdown, judges are ringing the alarm bell several times a week.

There's been a lot of debate within the Democratic establishment about what rhetoric to use via ICE.

Well, an incumbent doesn't lose by 48 percentage points very oftenโ€”and her vote on collaborating with ICE was the defining issue here.

The โ€œshieldโ€ is intolerable here as well.

โ€œParents tried to shield their children from water. Instead they died of dehydration.โ€

Thatโ€™s what the @nytimes.com headline here says. Both โ€œshieldโ€ and โ€œinsteadโ€ appallingly reinforce anti-vax attitudes and frames.

This is what weak and insecure people think confidence looks like: buffoonish bluster and swagger, like a 12-year-old bully. It doesnโ€˜t inspire trust or security. It inspires grave concern for the lives of the people serving our nation whose fate is in the hands of these overcompensating oafs.

I'm teaching about early 20th century eugenics today and was reminded that 9 years ago Republican Representative Steve King was stripped of his committee assignments by his GOP colleagues for this post that simply states what is now bog standard GOP policy/rhetoric on immigration and "civilization."
