Good heavens, no, I'm not certified to handle any "open" radioactive sources that are capable of spreading and contaminating! o:

Photo of a Jura F70 with the steam nozzle broken off. I assume it was already corroded or weakened at that spot from years of being moved about. And as I learned today, it's not even a classic steam wand, but would normally require one to use the supplied tiny hose for it to suck up some milk to mix and froth it. Oh well, I had our secretary order a new steam pipe and seals, should be easily fixable.

A colleague tried to steam some milk.

Well.

It's actually from the 80s, but the color scheme is just so very 70s to me. x) There were moments when I thought that it had finally given up the ghost, but so far, it keeps on working, despite obviously not being the freshest piece of equipment.

Photo of my dope board, complete with griptape. It's definitely not a piece of plywood with coasters from a chair and the kind of rubber mat one would put under a washing machine. No, sir, no ma'am.

Photo of said board after it was pushed under the support assembly of the driving unit/radiation source I'm about to remove, enabling me to remove the bolts holding it to the main frame, ready to be wheeled to the other corner.

Finally, let's change the position of the radiation source!

It's called scientific skateboarding. Pretty rad!

I'm sure this is how they portioned their coke in the '70s.

The good: Pretty much everyone is at a large conference this week.

The bad: I have to do pretty much everything that others would do.

Ugh. But I also need to severely reduce my accumulated overtime hours, so I might just do some VERY short days this week. x_x Or at least try to do so.

Photo of one of the light covers installed on a fitting ceiling light, which previously had a cracked cover that I haphazardly glued together some years ago. Yeah, I should have taken a before-and-after photo. But my repair wasn't super noticeable. I do notice it, though, and that's what counts.

Transporting my free 1980s ceiling light covers to the 1980s elevator with my 1980s hand cart. Good thing I'm also from the 80s, as is the building. Feeling a vibe here.

Yeah, nobody will go "Hey, someone replaced that cracked ceiling light! How neat!"

But I notice it, and it makes me happy.

One of the workshops is getting new LED lighting. And which scavenging yeen is right there to swipe some of the 1980s fluorescent light enclosures to replace the broken ones in his labs?

I'll give you time to guess.

We were just told that an LNG terminal in Qatar was knocked out by an attack, which means that our liquid helium supply might be in jeopardy. Oh well, good thing most of my shit is closed-cycle these days.

Huh, that's not so bad! Normal amount of fucked, scrolls appear undamaged. I guess pieces of the detached tip seal got between the scrolls, which made that percussive sound. If left like this, it would either have pulverized the seal or caused the scroll to fatigue and crack.

Was gonna change the circulation pump as the seals were so worn that sub-5K temperatures were not really possible anymore. But when I arrived, the noise indicated that the pump may have worse problems than worn seals... Holy fuck, that sounds bad. Hope I won't find pieces of the scrolls inside...

Photo of a fuel receipt from the 28th of February, the day Trump and Bibi decided to start reaming Iran, with a comparatively low price of 1,629€ per liter appearing like crazy fiction compared to today's exploded prices.

Fun fact: While driving home from Switzerland last Saturday, doing the traditional wild detour on the last 150km because of NRW, I randomly came upon a cheap gas station and brimmed my tank. And now Diesel hit the 2€ mark! Crazy. Our landlords have it good with their solar charging their EV...

POV shot of someone sitting in front of a PC screen along with other blurred online faces, waiting excitedly to hear the latest and greatest developments on radiation protection. The audio was shit at first, one speaker just carried on muted and never looked at the screen where they would have seen our chat messages, and while us online participants were able to hear each other, those in the lecture hall could not hear us. What an utter shitshow. And while sitting and waiting for the exam to start, we were all kicked out of the meeting by accident. They are really tempting my bad side by the automatic "Your feedback is valuable to us!" e-mail.

Bet they didn't even notice my radiation mug.

Photo of a wide-awake and motivated person. He has a happy expression and a full head of hair, radiant, in his lane, moisturized, vibing, just having a great time overall.

This is how your e-mail finds me, after skimming past the daily 10-hour limit, trying to get things organized while too many things are going on, radiation refresher course on one ear, phone on the other, dumb online exam, then filling helium with last strength. Blurgh.
