“Since you don’t care that much about money, they can’t buy you.” --dude's mom, warning him off when Epstein came around.

Not caring much about money can keep you out of a lot of trouble.

I worked as a disaster case manager for this tornado and it was rough helping people recover with shortages of everything they needed due to Covid.

Lost all our groceries during a ten day power outage then the stores were ransacked by Covid hoarders and we struggled to get much.

college to online with babysitters to watch you do your homework will end with colleges saving more money by recycling lectures from dead professors while low paid sitters watch people write.

Be upfront about it. I would avoid the class and the whole program if I found out that's what I'm getting. If I wanted to watch a video of a professor I'd just do online classes (which I hate) and save a ton of money. Those programa already exist for those it works better for. Turning in person...

I understand that perspective. If this were to better accommodate the needs of the students in the class, that would be one thing but it isn't.

I'm currently in two asynchronous classes and will NEVER do it again. I can't deal with these recorded lectures. If I didn't have scholarships, I'd quit.

Do these "low level" jobs end up taking from those who need them? What are the unintended consequences?

01.03.2026 21:30 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

This isn't being discussed to better accommodate students. It is veing discussed to keep students from using AI without any consideration of the reprocussions.

It just becomes another way to punish the innocent instead of the lazy.

I had to take pain meds to take an exam last time I was in a class with hand written exams. Extreme pain due to life long joint issues coupled with injuries. Not to mention, I've been writing by typing for decades and handwriting requires an enormous jump from non-linear to linear writing.

Once again punishing those of us who DESPERATELY wanted to be there because some other f**ks are lazy.

YES! The cheaters will always find a way to cheat. This just pubishes students who want to learn but will never be able to focus on a goodawful recorded lecture or produce good writing on a time crunch with people staring at them.

24.02.2026 04:30 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

That's great for you to stop cheaters, but it sucks for people like me whose ADHD makes recorded lectures awful but who create stellar work when left the hell alone for hours by ourselves.

Oh look, a 16,000 person concentration camp that they’ve been lying to you about. 🦞

Incidentally, “prison gerrymandering,” where these 16,000 people would be counted for determining legislative districts, would give more representation in the statehouse to these nazis.

Conservative Georgia town pushes back against ICE detention center: ‘We are Americans after all’ Social Circle, a mostly Maga town, builds strange bedfellow coalition against plans to convert warehouse

"The Social Circle city manager was contacted by ICE...

“They asked me to turn on the water,” he said of a 1m sq ft warehouse nearby that the government plans to use for locking up as many as 10,000 detainees.

“I told them I’m not going to do it,” he said...

It's always "stand your ground" unless your ground is your body and you're a woman.

We have to stop this dumb thing where a handful of people in states like New Hampshire that don't reflect the rest of the country much get to decide who is even an option for the rest of the country.

BNA hit 77° today, breaking the daily record high of 76° that had stood since 1932.

I hate it. There are folks who are really helped such as people with disabilities, but it is the worst to wait while being ignored. They should be required to post an electronic sign with how many are ahead of you since it's no longer possible to judge visually.

Thanks.

We may still have a non-full size one from when the kids were little. I'll look around first.

I could swear NPL had them, but I'm being told they aren't actually full size, but Richland Park may have some.

And somehow still got grant money to "protect" Nashville.

Protect us from whom?

Clearly not the people who wreak libraries.

(Apparently you can call and check out a guitar, but the rest of the instruments are collecting dust while we go without).

The Downtown Partnership ruins everything.

I have wanted to learn to play the piano since I was a little kid, but there were no options for our family.

So I had hoped to check out a full sized keyboard from the library and try to learn with videos.

But they blew up our library.

Wonder why there's no sign like that attached to the burnt out library garage.

Between Bad Bunny and sweet little Conejo, I thought I was done having my heartstrings pulled by bunnies. Then along comes a unicycling lavender bunny.

What are you and the rest of Congress doing to stop it?

I almost cried when it made me click all the crosswalks then all the bridges then.....

Sometimes I've been stuck in those things so long I've given up.

My coworker thinks you have to do them slow. If you are too fast it thinks you're not real. Who knows.
