It reads as a fairly standard US Left-Right argument. "So much for the tolerant left" whenever the right gets the slightest pushback is a meme at this point.

In an armored context, there just arnt the same openings you are used to having in a fencing context.
It's more of a HEMA weapon than a Fencing one. You get to poke one good home in them as they close, if you can find a gap in their armor, and then they're through your guard and ripping your armor apart with those points.
