Beavers have been released into the wild in Somerset for the first time.
We assisted Cornwall Wildlife Trust with Cornwallβs first licensed wild beaver release yesterday! Four pairs have been released after three years of planning and consultation. The beavers will help to restore waterways, improve biodiversity, and increase climate resilience. [1/3]
Today is #WorldWetlandsDay!
Thank you to all of our WeBS volunteers, contributing to our knowledge on wetlands and the birds they comprise of, providing essential data for decision makers.

This is exactly what weβve been saying for months and have the evidence to back it up. Unlike the government who have zero evidence or justification for their approach. They are basically destroying whatβs left of our wildlife to line the pockets of the big housing companies.
Glad you had a good visit AND an eagle turned up for you!

If you're out doing your @webs-gsmp.bsky.social counts this weekend, remember to record & report any dead or sick birds you find (info in the link). Bird flu cases are rising.

We have lots of unallocated Heathland Bird Survey squares in South Shropshire.
For us this is just a Nightjar survey, requiring two after sunset visits before 15 July.
For more information on the survey visit the link or send us a DM π

@dwtceo.bsky.social one for @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social ?
As always, this yearβs Waterbirds in the UK report would not be possible without the dedication from 3,947 volunteers, making 44,539 count visits during winter 2023/24. Thank you!
