Yes! I'm excited to venture outside my native habitat
Yeah. "Don't give a shit about others!"
I feel this; it's a constant struggle. One news clip completely obliterates my focus & has me questioning why I'm spending my time making games instead of doing....some unspecified thing that would help.
The success of Wyrmspan is absolutely incredible and humbling! I'm so grateful to Jamey, Elizabeth, and the whole Stonemaier team for the opportunity to be a part of it :-)
Yeah, that would have been nice. Pretty disgusted with the whole thing TBH. I know that hockey is largely maga, but hate being reminded of it
More than I expected, honestly. At least only like 80% of them are trash
As a fan of the sport, it's been so disheartening
Awesome! Really glad they fit the bill :-)
I really like these refillable notebooks. At this point I have one for every prototype. They come in some nice (smaller) sizes too so you can throw them in prototype boxes, and you can get lined or unlined refill pages: www.jetpens.com/Lihit-Lab-Pa...
Becoming a billionaire requires an extreme amount of selfishness and callousness. No surprise that once you're a billionaire, those traits remain.
Ok ngl, kind of obsessed with this.

Yup! It's not an especially scientific term, but essentially every time I go in and change the components. At the beginning, I might change 80+% of the components. At the end, I might be just tweaking a few things here and there
Can't wait!
I'm finding Mamdani so inspiring. This PSA below is informative, upbeat, and clearly sets expectations. 10/10
Incredible, inspiring, and sobering.
This is hilarious. Colorado is just on a whole different planet
Just saw that Apiary was nominated for a BGA award! Very cool! boardgamearena.com/awards
I had a lot of angst in leaving government. I WANTED to make a principled stand & go out in a blaze of glory. But there was never any stand to take - everything they did was malicious & haphazard illegality that changed every hour. There was never a plan to disrupt, & it was comply or be fired.
Absolutely lovely review of Apiary from @werenotwizards.com : www.werenotwizards.co.uk/apiary-board... so amazing to see the game still getting love 2 years later!
It's tough - I feel both of these. I'm trying to absolutely get over the first one!
Love this!
That's a very cool anecdote about Cascadia! I like that framing too - you never know what will trigger something cool in the future :-)
Yeah! I think lately I've left the self-censorship creep in too early. It's a fine line & it's hard in any kind of creative field. You definitely don't want to prototype every idea - but you don't want smother them before they start
I worry to a large extent that there's a gender component here. It seems like self-censorship happens a lot more for women than men. But regardless of where it came from, I'm going to take this small daily step to work myself out of it. Wish me luck!

Why? Because I need to stop censoring my own ideas. I realized (after talking with the wise @hexstardragon.bsky.social ) that I give my own ideas half (or less!) the credibility that I give others'. I need to get back into the habit of giving them with a little respect.

The closest thing I have to a New Year's resolution is this:
Every day, I am going to write down one board game idea. No matter how garbage or nonsense or terrible I think it is, I will write it down in a cute little notebook I got for the purpose.

Thank you for the recs - I'll check out the HT! I get the Blue Fields earl gray from Keats & Co and absolutely love it! And unrelatedly, their socks which are amazing :-).
