Both parents possibly inappropriately pleased our 15yo daughter spent 13 hours at the cinema watching the three Lord of the Rings films. She denies she’s a nerd like us, as she’s a sport girl, but this suggests the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Dr Carla Hayden was a truly great Librarian of Congress. It is an outrage that she has been sacked - a national shame on the United States. I had the pleasure of knowing her and working with her - she’ll continue to do good in the next phase of her career whatever that is.

I’ve stated it before (and used to mention it when I did a VL at UCL) - librarianship has shifted during my career. My FT PG course at Aber (funded with a bursary) was pretty diverse over 30 years ago (by most measures of diversity).
Just seen a Boards of Canada reference from @silversprite.bsky.social and I’m back in a very happy part of my life.
