That's one of the best numbers I've seen for Trump among Hispanic voters. That being said, I think both of the last two polls were among Hispanic youth voters, so those would be skewed a bit.
I do a little bit. Retention rates at lower placed schools are, at least to my knowledge, just as bad as R1/R2 programs. Being willing to gamble a little more might be to our advantage. Because, at least at the small state schools, admin is still asking us to try to get external grants.
Many M1/M2/M3 seem to have an in built distrust of hiring folks who do notable research in fear of being stepping stone destinations.

Agree with everything you've said. But also, in slight ray of hope - young people are beginning relationships increasingly late in life. I believe at least some of this improves as young men find themselves in relationships with women who ABSOLUTELY won't stand for these things.

You could accomplish that goal (deciding elections in Nov rather than June) with a single round of ranked choice voting in November, w/out the potential for strategic coordination failure like we're seeing in California right now. Reps have never been weaker, but have a realistic shot of winning.
At that point just do one election with RCV. No need for two rounds.

Frankly, I don't see any way it is actually that low. Unless the US portion of activity is far lesser than we have been led to believe.

Exactly. Growing up in AZ and living in California, you just get daily exposure to it in ways you rarely do with other languages. That is what killed my Russian skills - just absolutely no real way to practice.
I was a Russian major in undergraduate, so I feel her pain. But I find myself more in your boat nowadays - my Russian is worse than my Spanish again.
