A stylized illustration of the main character’s face split in half with a stripe of contrasting colors (purple and pink), overlaid with the title "Demonschool" adorned with an open book icon with flames.

For the first time since its inception, I'm happy to report that ALL nominees of #TheGameAwards include #TranslatorsInTheCredits! We've come a long way since the dark days of credit withholding, and none of this would've been possible without your support!
I was a freelance game translator going back to as early as 1995. That was before the term localizer even existed. In that time, I struggled as an individual and as a company to see justice arrive. I want to thank you and others that spoke out enough to finally push us over the edge.
I was really honored to be in this excellent series on the history and philosophy of horror gaming. Please take a look.
Oooh! Scary!!
The right to work in another country is a fundamental right??
Dear good people, if you rant against Musk for doing a Nazi salute, and you should, you can’t remain silent when things like this happen or you don’t care about antisemitism, only politics.
A blue background tinted version of cyberpunk Osaka behind the text BLADE CHIMERA surrounded by stylish creatures from Japanese folklore.
Is real Osaka not cyberpunk enough for ya? 🫵
Fed up with only finding metroids in your vanias, and instead want to uncover the truth of a forgotten past?
Well, we gochu homies - #BladeChimera is here, and available in 9 languages for some demon-smacking, ledge-jumping joy. ⚔️
My original article on Castlevania: SOTN's original English translation is up at @polygon.com!
Based partly on an epic zoom interview I did with Jeremy Blaustein, who is still living & translating in Japan.

No better here. Not. One. Bit.
By the way, a thing to celebrate:
David Corenswet’s the first Jewish actor to play Superman
Feels monumental, especially because the character was created by Jewish immigrants

Ok, here's an interview from last month where Jeremy Blaustein literally says he's a David Lynch fan and used lines from his films for his localization of Metal Gear Solid.

We often leave Raccoon City for a vacation in Silent Hill, and always find someone interesting in the fog...

One of the very first games @hirokoyoda.bsky.social
and I worked on, under team leader @jblaustein.bsky.social
(now of @dragonbaby.bsky.social). I recall all of us getting so little dev support that Hiroko and I had to enlist a local Chinese restaurant to help us decipher some in-game terms.
I was involved.
Despite a lack of R’lyehian linguists it helped that @dragonbaby.bsky.social adheres to non-Euclidean logic and is drawn to the worship of Great Old Ones anyway…💦
