It's very, very important that you let people on social media know when you're not surprised by things.

people have got to realize that we are not getting Medicare for All without taxing the middle class. we are not getting free child care without taxing the middle class. we are not getting better schools and free college without taxing the middle class.

I make $95,000 a year. raise my taxes, please.

PG ain't what it used to be. The American DVD release, I think, was Not-rated.

First thing to come to mind, for me:

There's no plot, only vibes. It's just a blurry trance of homoeroticism while Judi Dench reads the sonnets of Shakespeare (as the music of Coil plays in the background).

The dow isn't at 50k anymore, so I guess now we can start caring about Donald Trump's connection to Jeffrey Epstein.

Have you seen his Angelic Conversation?

The closest memory I have to what might be a break-off point would be when I was told that I had to fear my God. How could I fear this thing I was pitying?

I was in the 5th grade and going to Sunday School every week. I had believed in God all my life up until then, but soon I learned just how much "maintenance" this God required of me (praying the rosary, going to mass, etc.) It wasn't my laziness; it was pity for this god who needed so much from me.

There is just something about chess. I wouldn't ever want to be good at it.

I love the idea that the monster's body was composed of various corpses while his mind was composed of various artists (Milton, Goethe, Plutarch). It's really a brilliant parallel.

Was I not understanding social cues when I was a child, or was I understanding them well enough, but resenting their imposition on me?

I don't believe in math, actually.

Good.

You clearly just want someone to be mad at. This isn't healthy for you. You can get your dopamine rush in some better way, trust me.

That post was an "attack"??

I refuse to learn anything because I love being wrong all the time.

05.03.2026 23:42 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

That's not particularly helpful.

05.03.2026 23:35 ๐Ÿ‘ 10 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

No I don't.

Never!

05.03.2026 22:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I've been doing that for ten years now.

05.03.2026 22:45 ๐Ÿ‘ 8 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Why? What did I do?

05.03.2026 22:44 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This would be great if it weren't for your very limited conception of what "reined in" means.

05.03.2026 21:32 ๐Ÿ‘ 455 ๐Ÿ” 5 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 9 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Can I argue that a play is better than any work of architecture, music, or painting? Not really. But that's just how I feel.

Macbeth. Not only is it my favorite Shakespeare, I would go so far as to say it is the greatest work of art in human history.

All That Jazz (1979)
This semi-autobiographical film makes Bob Fosse (Joe Gideon in this film) seem like the coolest/saddest man to have ever lived. The incredible range of different kinds of dance numbers on display here never get dull (except the last one). Charlie Kaufmann does Broadway. 4.5/5

One from the Heart (1981)
Insipid (first) and beautiful (second). You could write its plot out on a fortune cookie strip. Couple is in love. Couple fights. They fuck other people. They inexplicably reunite. Most disappointing of all is the watered-down Tom Waits songs. But the sets! The colors! 2/5

Disco Dancer (1982)
An Indian dance-action film that fails both at dance and action, but succeeds in giving me the same vibes Obayashi's House gave me many years ago. It's kind of funny how the musical performances feel fake in the same way the bad kung fu does. A cargo cult's idea of disco. 2/5

lmao

02.03.2026 18:31 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'm noticing an uptick in posts that begin with, "it's so cool that..." or "it rules that..." which then go on to describe circumstances that are not cool at all. And the "lol" placed at the end does very little to add levity of any kind. What's going on?
