A few days ago, we stood in front of the @ec.europa.eu with one clear message: it’s time to end fur farming and fur trade in Europe.
From Members of the European Parliament to former fur industry leaders, from fashion advocates to animal protection volunteers: the call is united and urgent.
I deeply share those frustrations!!
Animal welfare is one of those issues with a strong, unfaltering, overwhelming public support but no action at EU level, for reasons directly linked to economic interests.
We get so many petitions on tjis that we then promptly ignore. Infuriating.
@ec.europa.eu has published the summary report of the public consultation on the modernisation of EU animal welfare legislation.
One highlight: 99% of respondents considered it (very) important to phase-out cages for laying hens.

By the end of March @ec.europa.eu will announce what policy action it plans to take in response to the Fur Free Europe ECI.
As I unequivocally state in this article, delivering anything other than a proposal for an EU-wide ban on fur farming would be unforgivable.

Today I joined colleagues from around Europe to urge @ec.europa.eu to deliver a proposal for an EU-wide ban on fur farming.
Anything less would be unFURgivable!
EU chemicals law says animal tests should only be a "last resort". But too often, animals are used despite non-animal options. Our Decision Tree tool aims to fix this. It's a simple guide that recommends animal-free methods first. As science advances, these become the ONLY option.
