I’m currently redesigning my Body–Brain–Emotion seminar for our General Psychology MSc students. Last year, we covered the spectrum from basic sensory processes to perception (e.g., cardiac effects), as well as breathing and sleep, gut-brain interaction.
As body-augmenting technologies become more common, it is important to understand how the brain decides what counts as "the body", and how that changes over time.

In our new preprint 📝, we examine tactile suppression during reaching.
Using optimal control theory, we show that tactile suppression reflects dynamic, uncertainty-dependent integration of forward model predictions and sensory feedback.

With a wearable finger-extension device, we reveal distinct phases of proprioceptive plasticity: during wear, after active use, and even after removal.
