Foi recentemente assinalada em #Portugal a presença de Teucrium aristatum, uma pequena planta anual rara que até agora só era conhecida de poucos locais em Espanha e França, e que é considerada ameaçada a nível global.

Last Monday I found a marvelous #astragalus species, Astragalus tragacantha L., near Cabo de Sagres. This small shrub with a Med. distribution that, in mainland Portugal, occurs only in a restricted area of the SW Algarve coast, on calcareous sea cliffs. #botany #portugal #flora 🌱🌿🪷

The species was discovered by João Neiva & Duarte Frade in Tavira, in the Algarve, where it occurs on clay soils that are temporarily flooded. It can be easily distinguished from all other Teucrium species in Portugal as it is the only annual species with bluish-violet flowers and aristate calyces.
New species for the Flora of Portugal!
The presence of Teucrium aristatum has recently been recorded in #Portugal. This small, rare annual plant was previously known only from a few locations in Spain and France and is considered globally threatened. 🌱
