3/ The result? 1 extra day of stretch⬆️the probability of IPV by ~20%.

Importantly, this isn't about job loss or big economic crises. The paycheck arrives eventually. But the temporary stress, financial and emotional, is enough to increase violence at home.

2/ The idea is simple. Workers paid semi-monthly (on the 15th and last day of the month) sometimes get paid early, because banks are closed. But if the next payday stays the same, the same paycheck has to stretch further.

We use this quirk of the calendar as a natural experiment.
