I've been trying it out too, also never played a BF so far it's been pretty neat.

Recently I saw Farewell my Concubine (1993) and it still haunts me. Fantastic cinematography and costumes, hard-hitting tragic story, and great actors. I really liked that it took you through different historical eras from before the war with Japan all the way to the post-cultural revolution era.
