Well f*ck.
Itโs awful to be rooting for either monopoly to get to be a super-mega-OP-Monopoly, but Paramount has gone to Satan, and must be stopped. Your move, NF.
Good luck! Iโll keep my ear out
One of the only times Iโve been moved by sports. This is funny and beautiful, I love it
Itโs beyond upsetting.
And apparently I owe some conspiracy-nut friends a couple apologies, because some of the stuff in there is likeโฆ beyond understanding
The existential dread about the future of employment in this industryโฆ not just mine, like, *anyoneโs*โฆ is overwhelming.
Iโve had several interviews from LinkedInโฆ but no jobs.
Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn is also mentioned in the Epstein files over 1000 times.
Jesus Christ, what a petty little prick.
Thank god for the impending public domain.
Thereโs still new comics that get made of Dick Tracy. I guess itโs only film & TV.
Wait, whatโs wrong with Dick Tracy?? It existed for like 60 years prior to Beattyโs involvement
I must be younger than I thought; thatโs still the case to me.
I agree we shouldnโt give in to Trumpโs concessions either
Sure, but ceasing construction is probably ill-advised is what I mean.
Fair enough
What I mean is, maybe the US, against all odds, defeats the current fascist onslaught.
Thereโs all kinds of laws, regulations & so on that would make restarting construction on a bridge โleft to rustโ untenably expensive.
Itโs cheaper by FAR to finish it, even if itโs closed & open it in future.
I mean, I donโt want to go to the states either, but expecting us, as a country, to burn all bridges metaphorically or literally is crazy.
But I sympathise with the anger.
This bridge began construction a loooooong time before the current political climate, in Obamaโs time.
If things were normal, this bridge would serve a lot, and leaving it to rust isnโt just taking the L, itโs economically irresponsible.
So thereโs a success story like youโre advocating for, but itโs beyond rare.
And itโs tantalizing and American streamers wouldnโt back it unless they toned it down, so Canadaโs victory on this one was having the gumption to not censor.
Seth Rogen hosted a pottery competition show on CBC a year ago.
Merely doing the show clearly isnโt the only barrier. Marketing etc is also a factor.
This problem is a hydra.
Also, sure, re: Schittโs Creek, but right now Heated Rivalry is the most popular thing going and no one is famous in it.
We need to make more opportunities for ourselves up here and Schittโs Creek & Heated Rivalry prove Canadian success can cross the border, but theyโre the exceptions, not the rule.
I mean, in fairness, heโs been with his American wife for 16 years, and most of his career happened because he went to the US.
You wouldnโt be name dropping him had he stayed here.
And he went for SNL, which wouldnโt exist had Lorne Michaels not gone down south.
But donโt get me wrong, I think we should also do your suggestion, and frankly, I have no desire to go to the US anytime soon, but just being pedantic and argumentative I guess.
I mean, that can be it, but the big leagues arenโt here & just literally canโt be for a long time if ever. Say you work in entertainment or acting. Sure, Heated Rivalry is big, but in general, youโre not gonna headline a big project staying put here.
Or if you want to work for DreamWorks or Pixar
I think thatโs too all-or-nothing to be reasonable. Some jobs require people to live in the US. But it doesnโt mean youโll be there your whole life, and you may wish to return.
Itโs not fair to tell someone who just wants a good job opportunity that they need to RENOUNCE CITIZENSHIP to get it.
Btw, nice touch with the line about Wick being โmore Carmilla than Dracula.โ
Itโs never too early to get kids curious about fiction like Le Fanu, ha ha

they should make a movie series about how itโs irresponsible to use technology to mess with the natural order of things for profit
Gimme 90s Canadian-made Outer Limits any day!
Ooooof, telling people to love LEXX without irony is a BIG ask.
Even as a teenage boy desperate for semi-erotic science fiction, it was a slog to sit through.
My son just brought this home from the library today, and I was like โthis art is amazing!โ and in my head I was thinking โthis art looks so familiarโฆโ because Iโve only discovered your work on your other account, ha ha.
Anyway, canโt wait to read!
