Never forget Robert Jenrick's view about Farage before the opportunist joined Reform
#bbclaurak
It’s now almost 2 months since Nigel Farage was scheduled to appear on #bbclaurak as part of her Leaders Interview but pulled out due to being “under the weather”
He’s currently in America supporting a foreign president over his own country
The people who told us austerity was crucial, Brexit would be brilliant, Boris Johnson’s amazing and Liz Truss is an economic genius, are now insisting the country should join an illegal war

Screencap of a Krishnan Guru-Murthy tweet quoting a Donald Trump post on TruthSocial: KG-M: "Yesterday dinner with Farage. Today the salvo against Starmer." DT: "The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East. That's OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don't need them any longer- But we will remember. We don't need people that join Wars after we've already won! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump is in Putin's pocket.
Farage is in Trump's pocket.
Let us not forget this when we're voting in 2029, eh?

Tony’s a sulky nause isn’t he?
Communicate your thoughts and feelings to Helen and the family in a reasoned and reasonable manner, instead of huffing off.
He does read these, doesn’t he?

I think there is a vg case for the Alternative Vote (pluralist majoritarianism) UK's evolving party system - not least as of balanced use for voters on different sides of political spectrum. It allows sincere voting by every voter + strategic choices by those who care

Nigel Farage has spent over 1,113 hours or 140 working days at his various other jobs since being elected to Parliament in July 2024 – while spending considerably less time addressing Parliament than other party leaders.

I remember when ‘Brexit Means Brexit’ became a way for silly people to insist that they supported something they could neither justify nor explain. Obviously the context is very different, but something similar is already happening with the ‘war’ in Iran. And it’s mostly the same people doing it.
What I will never understand is....Twitter was *never* a good gauge of public opinion! I genuinely cannot understand the people who have clearly been using it as a measure of something other than 'internal leadership contests' (where it was genuinely useful' or 'ways to discover cool links'.
Why is Emma Barnett so tedious?
"Why has it taken you so long to fine the water company? it's a joke."
"Because we have to investigate fully."
Wouldn't it cost taxpayers an awful lot if they made false claims against the company and they sued as a result?

Israel is not a signatory to the non-proliferation treaty, and are not subject to inspections.
Whereas Iran is a signatory (not necessarily a faithful one), and was subject to IAEA inspections for years after Trump tore the JCPOA agreement up.

A management consultant friend had an handy mnemonic for that: WAGNER - Wild-arse guess, not easily refuted.
Good to see the number of Labour MPs speaking up for this. I hope their colleagues listen to them.
How we laugh at Putin when the Ukrainians fought back instead of switching sides to over throwing their government?
Indeed. Like Kash Patel sacking a dozen FBI employees who specialized in countering Iranian terrorism right before this. Of course, it doesn't help when military commanders are chosen apparently for religious zealotry rather than logistical and organizational skills. bsky.app/profile/simo...
This debacle is making the Bush Administration’s plans for the occupation of Iraq look highly detailed. 😐
i genuinely can’t believe they didn’t plan for this, but that’s sure what it’s starting to look like. i have to believe every iran war plan since the 1970s had detailed contingencies for the strait of hormuz, but for some reason, we just aren’t executing them?
Good point well made
Yes I’m sure Jennifer will be delighted to be remembered via a lovely pair of matching trees for her and her widower’s dead lover in the garden of the house she loved and had to move out of because her husband poisoned the fecking Am #TheArchers
IPSO have published their verdict on The Daily Telegraph’s fake £345,000-a year banker couple who claimed they couldn’t afford five holidays.
The paper declined to explain to the watchdog how the article came to be published - but our reporting at the time sets it out…
Just a random reminder that over 50 members of Congress collectively own millions of dollars in defense contractor stocks.
They stand to personally profit from wars that enrich these contractors.
Make no mistake, this is legalized corruption.
Watch how they vote this week.
Could somebody from the BBC or from Democracy Volunteers explain how these cases of "family voting" were observed?

Stockport: deeply into the ironising phase of its revival
"Assemble the Board of Peace - I'm starting a war".
I think it fails to understand the coalition of voters that just voted Green, and why. And as usual you won’t get very far by implicitly slagging off the voters. The Green voter coalition was your coalition five minutes ago.
Lives are destroyed by drugs and areas are destroyed by the criminality around drugs. It is time to try something different. Legalise, control, tax and treat. Yes it’s complex and expensive, but so is the “war on drugs”.
I thought Trump said this is America's golden age, and the best economy in the history of the world. No one's ever seen such a great economy, he said.
#Liver #bbcpm
It is control of drugs by the state and treat them as a public health issue.
