A Common Sydney Octopus (Octopus tetricus) sitting among a large number of mussels. The octopus is fairly well hidden, only its head and part of its arm are visible. It is dark grey with light brown on its arm and orange on the underside of the arm. The mussels are all pointing vaguely upwards and have their shells slightly open. The octopus is lower than the top of the mussels. The mussels are covered in algae, and you can see some other sea plants and other invertebrates like a sea star.

we're starting to get invited to birthday parties at daycare. based on the fancy houses and the number of nannies I'm starting to think the other parents are kinda rich. I would be jealous but having daycare AND a nanny is just cheating.

amazing! I have gone 6 times now to a pond near my house where a bittern is hanging out and have yet to see the dang bird. BUT this morning I saw snipes for the first time and they were delightful.
