On #InternationalWomensDay, we remember Claire.

Claire died in May 2025 aged 42 from uterine leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that is often diagnosed late.

When Claire first presented with symptoms, she was told it was IBS.
As months passed, she had to insist on further investigation.

Survey on patient experiences of receiving test results Take this survey powered by surveymonkey.com. Create your own surveys for free.

We’re working with LBC Radio to understand whether patients are experiencing delays or difficulties receiving their test results and we want to hear from you.

If you’ve had trouble accessing your NHS test results since Jan 2023, your experience could help support an investigation:

March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month πŸ’œ

Ovarian cancer isn’t obvious. The symptoms can feel like things we all experience from time to time, bloating, discomfort, changes in appetite, which is why they’re sometimes missed.

because any plan must be ambitious, evidence-led and built for the long term.

If we’re serious about improving cancer outcomes in Wales, a national cancer strategy is no longer optional.

Strong discussion today at #PlaidConference #FixingTheFoundations.

We welcome Plaid Cymru’s commitment to introduce a cancer plan within its first 100 days in government. Today’s debate considered what that must involve if the party forms the next Welsh Government

We’re at the #PlaidCymru conference this weekend.

Cancer patients in Wales are still waiting too long. Outcomes in lung, less survivable, and gynaecological cancers remain stubbornly poor, with too many families pushed into financial crisis.

Only 1 in 5 people diagnosed with cancer in Wales say they received information about psychological support.

Cancer affects your mind as well as your body.

Mental health support must be consistent across Wales, not postcode dependent.

Six cancers in Wales have a five-year survival rate of under 20%.
That should stop us in our tracks.

Lung. Pancreatic. Liver. Brain. Oesophageal. Stomach.

We need focused action on the cancers with the worst outcomes.

If Wales is serious about fairer, faster cancer care, these areas cannot and should not wait.

We’ll be sharing more on each over the coming days.

Our priorities were shaped by the All Wales Cancer Community:

β€’ Gynaecological cancers
β€’ Less survivable cancers
β€’ Money, practical support and cancer
β€’ Emotional wellbeing & cancer
β€’ Lung cancer

These are not abstract policy issues; they are lived realities across Wales affecting many.

Cancer in Wales is rising.

120,000 people are living with cancer today.
Around 20,000 are diagnosed each year.

By the end of the next Senedd term, that could reach 230,000.

Here’s where action is urgently needed πŸ‘‡

Today we’re in Llandudno at Venue Cymru for the Welsh Conservatives Conference.

We’re speaking with Members and candidates about what people affected by cancer in Wales need from the next Senedd.

Fairer, faster, cancer services.

Cancer must be a priority this election.

World Cancer Day is a reminder that outcomes don’t just depend on treatment, they depend on timing.

In Wales, delays in gynaecological cancer care remain severe. In November, only 32% of patients started treatment within the 62-day target, with wide variation between Health Boards.

Heulwen was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in 2022. Yesterday, she shared her story and the wider reality facing people with less survivable cancers with ITV.

These cancers receive less than a fifth of government research funding. It's time to #CloseTheResearchGap.

Plenary The Senedd is the democratically elected body that represents the interests of Wales and its people, makes laws for Wales, agrees Welsh taxes and holds the Welsh Government to account.

A 90-second statement on less survivable cancers was led yesterday morning in the Senedd by John Griffiths MS.

These issues often don’t get enough airtime, this one is worth hearing.
