Today marks my first full week in the Senate. On Thursday, it was great to have my family join me as I was sworn in. Since then Iβve presented several bills and attended my first Senate committee meeting. I'm excited to continue my work in the upper chamber!
Itβs bittersweet to leave the House of Delegates, but Iβm excited to join the State Senate tomorrow!
Proud that my first bill of 2026 has passed both chambers and now lands on @abigailspanberger.comβs desk. My SB38 & @ebpforva.bsky.socialβs HB93 protect survivors of domestic violence by ensuring firearms are legally transferred and removed from the home.

Last but not least, I want to express gratitude to Senator @adamebbin.bsky.social for his decades of service that have made a real difference in peopleβs lives. He has been an incredible partner and mentor in the GA and I will miss him, but am excited for his next chapter in public service.
I also want to congratulate Delegate-Elect @kirkmcpike.bsky.social. I am excited to work with him in the General Assembly to pass meaningful legislation for our community.

This morning, I was pleased to visit polling places at two retirement communities in SD-39 and I enjoyed speaking with senior voters. In the Senate I will advocate for policies for affordable, safe, and healthy communities for all.

A highlight of the past week was seeing Governor @abigailspanberger.com sign her first bills including the ballot language for my constitutional amendment on voting rights, HJ2. This moment was decades in the making and I am so grateful to all who paved the way. Now, it's in the hands of the voters!
