Reverend Jesse Jackson called on each of us to be heralds of change, to be messengers of hope; to step forward and say “Send me” wherever we have a chance to make an impact.
How fortunate we were that Jesse Jackson answered that call. What a great debt we owe to him.
No besmirchment intended. Just noting that Saturday’s Warrior just had a resurgence in UT in the late 80s/early 90s. (My entire elementary school was singing that soundtrack in 1991) Some of the sound and feel from SW spilled over into the Church’s 90s films, songs, and EFY stuff.
Best way I can describe it: There’s a sound and feel to those films that echoes the Kenneth Cope/Michael McLean/Saturday’s Warrior stuff put out by the Church/BYU during that time.
I’m obviously fine with the church itself but understand why many have issues with those types of films and songs.
I can definitely see it in stuff like Mulan and Hercules. Aspects of it in many other films. The main songs in those films especially so.
Movies, series, or all of the above? Because I can see that in some but not all of their stuff from that time.
Optical illusion of a woman bent over some papers. Her sunglasses are pushed up and she is wearing a hair band so the top of her head looks exactly like a Muppet face
Sorry I know the world is in a terrible fix but I've been laughing at this for ten minutes now
Yeah, that’s a stunningly bad choice to use in that context. It’s not exactly a song that favors military action…
Yeah, those are both some of the most completely misunderstood song out there and the way that they are played and used.
This is bananas and ridiculously offensive. Just astounding that anyone would release an ad like this.
Tweet by Igor Bobic "Fetterman responds to Graham Platner saying he should lose his seat: “Oh, really? The guy with the Nazi tattoo? Yeah, I'm devastated by that.” "
this is what awaits us if we fail to crush Platner in the primary, "oh the party of Nazi Tattoos has something to say?" every time forever
Even setting aside the 1st Amendment concerns, this is offensive, blasphemous, demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of Christianity, and is squarely at odds with the gospel taught by Christ.
This is incredibly disturbing
@nbasarah.bsky.social Happy birthday! Thanks for the great work you do and the awesome person you are. Hope you are well celebrated by @colyou.bsky.social, your friends and family, and many others today! Happy birthday!🎉🎁🎂
I have my moments but offline more than normal lately
Fully agree there! 😂
My wife says she’d choose Snowman over Hinges… and sing it year round. I’ll defer to her.
For sure! But most choristers only sing it in Winter and the beginning of Spring.
Roll your hands is better than both. But Hinges because it’s used year-round.
Adam Silver would find a way to allow betting on the possible outcomes.
Either that or they don’t want the Jokic bros to take things into their own hands. 😂
Agreed. Think they were looking to eject him there (and I understand why)
It was near perfection. It included a “dying convo” with Stock and Karl that still makes me laugh. I think there was a second album that had the Finals song on it. And I know one of them had “We Beat LA,” which was solid gold, too.
That’s going to be stuck in my head all day now. 😂
Plus there was the Finals version of My Heart Will Go On:
Oooooonnnce Moooorre you’ll storm down the floor….
Basketball John, I Love Basketball, Rockets Fan, etc…. those were some 90s-era bangers. 😂
LMAAOO JOE
Agreed! But from my experience (and what’s actually in the BofM), I don’t find those black and white rules or “perfect prophets” to be helpful to the realities of life.
I feel this so strongly. Covid was a test of our moral integrity & decency -- *not just elites, but all of us* -- and we failed.
I genuinely think one reason Covid has been memory-holed so hard, & so crusted w/ myths & conspiracy theories, is that on some level we know this & are ashamed.
That approach is really helpful. As a believing member, one thing I’ve seen as I’ve read is how deeply flawed most of the BofM prophets were. Nephi could be a cocky little turd. Captain Moroni a reactionary hothead. Mormon making rash decisions. I appreciate seeing that… humanity.
