He wants “unconditional surrender” from Iran. The last time the US wanted that it dropped two atomic bombs on Japan. These people might just be crazy, dumb, and inhuman enough to do that.

I'm a writer. I don't believe in voices for the voiceless. Abolish the conditions of voicelessness instead. Books include The Sympathizer, The Committed, A Man of Two Faces, The Refugees, and To Save and to Destroy: Writing as an Other.

Bye-bye, Kristi Noem. You sold whatever little soul you had for Donald Trump and he rewarded you with humiliation, which is the least of what you deserve.
The US-based Human Rights Activist news agency says at least 742 civilians have been reported killed, of whom 85 had been confirmed and verified. The number reported killed included 176 children."
The US-led war on Iran has already caused a high civilian toll. The Iranian Red Crescent Society said on Monday that at least 555 people had been killed across the country.
According to human rights organisation Hengaw, the school’s morning session typically included 170 children. A local official told AP that the casualties from the Saturday strike included students, parents and school staff.
The US military said it was “looking into” the bombing. It is not yet clear how many of the total dead were teachers or school staff, although Isna (the state-affiliated Iranian Student news agency) has reported that the school’s headteacher was among the dead.
"The school’s location, the nearby smoke, and the timing of the bombing – in the first round of strikes by US and Israeli forces – all give credence to the assertion that the school was hit as part of a series of strikes by the US and Israel on or around the IRGC complex.
168 killed, dozens of them children.
The school was located next to an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) barracks, but there is no indication that the school was involved in the IRGC.
These people and these girls would not be dead if it weren't for the USA and Israel's illegal war.
The imperial decline of the United States can be measured by how "the best and the brightest" led the US to war in Viet Nam, while now it's "dumb and dumber" who have led us into a war with Iran.
Newly uncovered archival evidence that Israel committed dozens of massacres of Palestinians in 1948 to clear them from Palestine.
Ilan Pappé in 2006 argued that there was a violent and strategically planned "ethnic cleansing of Palestine" by Israel's founders.
You are correct. I crossed my wires there.
Multiple sources indicate that the Royal Lao government was in place until 1975, including this US government document media.defense.gov/2024/Jan/03/...
I think the last time the USA created regime change solely through bombing was in Cambodia, when a massive carpet bombing campaign so destabilized the country that the Khmer Rouge came to power and wiped out the Royal government—the American ally. Genocide followed.
Mae West!!! Haven’t seen her name in decades
I like this man and his food looks amazing and even more so because he knows American history, knows the USA is being led by a fool, and that being deported is a crime on top of a crime for refugees.
They’re scared of children with crayons.

Strangely, I have met young teenagers who have loved this novel. They must be deviants-in-training, as was I at that age.
The movie is nominated for Best International Feature for this year's Academy Awards and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival.

A concentration camp is a concentration camp is a concentration camp.
Robert Duvall, great actor, Colonel Kilgore will forever be burned in my memory, although I will never forget when he did a late night interview for THE SCARLET LETTER and said he hadn’t read the novel.
I give it one more year before Donald Trump makes a push to rename Presidents Day “Donald Trump Day.”
Evyn Lê Espiritu Gandhi, UCLA professor who has written about Israel and its relationship to the Vietnamese.
& the Vietnamese Communist Party has long supported Palestinian statehood (while also dealing with Israel). I'll be talking with Cathy Linh Che, poet & executive director of arts organization Kundiman, &
Very excited to have this conversation about Viet Nam and Palestine. The histories of the Vietnamese and Palestinian people have been intertwined since at least the 1960s, when Palestinians looked to the Vietnamese revolution as a source of inspiration...

I love Arundhati Roy's courage, integrity, intelligence, and her artistry as a writer of fiction & nonfiction.
Wim Wenders, the jury chair, on being questioned about Gaza, said filmmakers have to stay out of politics. Roy said a genocide demands a response from everyone, artists included. I agree.
Returning to Stanford to give a reading, which is never just a reading for me...I'm sure I'll have many opinions to give about the state of our nation and the role of writing in relationship to speaking truths.
First time visiting Northern Arizona University! I'm delivering the Cline Lecture, and I will talk a lot about my fiction and nonfiction, particularly as they relate to war, refugees, migration, and the fears and joys of otherness.
Israeli writer Amos Oz in his novel FIMA, talking about Arab children: "Can a worthless man like me have sunk so low as to make a distinction between the intolerable killing of children and the not-so-intolerable killing of children?"
