Trying this writing thing. Started with scribbling stories on my nightstand as kid, to publishing essays and pieces in Huffington Post, TodayShow.com, Deep Wild Journal, Bright Flash Lit, Multiplicity Magazine, Detroit Metro Times and more.

When My Dad Got Cancer, I Kept Asking, 'Why Him?' His 3-Word Response Floored Me. "It was 10 months into his treatment when I finally broke in front of him, and he revealed the surprising yet profound truth he was using to guide his way through his diagnosis."

Beyond honored that Huffington Post reran my piece today as part of their “Best of” Series, and I hope dad’s message continues to help more people! www.huffpost.com/entry/dad-co...

Throwback A guitar riff begins, lights lowered.  I bought a ticket that morning. Life had been changing and I needed to tether myself to something familiar. Now I’m swaying in silhouette with the crowd. I do…

Excited to share this new micro CNF piece in Great Lakes Review! It’s all about nostalgia - rediscovering old music that takes us back to pivotal moments, and old versions of ourselves. Give it a read! greatlakesreview.org/throwback/

My Dad's Christmas Tradition Was The Stuff Of Legend. Then Tragedy Struck. "When Christmas came that year, we struggled to find joy in our usual traditions."

Seems only right to reshare this piece from last year today. Reading it back, I’d make some changes and edits, but it’s still a favorite because I got to share the story about our favorite Xmas Eve tradition and a bit about the man that started it all ❤️ www.huffpost.com/entry/christ...

This was a beautiful story! Your line: "How fast would a train need to travel before it didn't hurt anymore?" really hit ❤️

"Let it be pointless" is honestly perfect, simple advice for getting out of your own head.

Hi there! I recently finished “I’m Never Fine” and as someone who also lost a dad to cancer, it was so raw and relatable, and the writing was stunning. Damn near every page had a sentence so beautifully written that I had to go back and reread it several times. Well done! 👏🏻

My Dead | Brevity: A Journal of Concise Literary Nonfiction

I'd love to drown in some flash CNF this weekend. Any recommendations #writingcommunity? I don't see the writer on here to tag, but here's a Brevity piece that has stuck with me & I find myself going back to: brevitymag.com/issues/jan20...

Love the "big wheel years" classification - oh man were those toys a defining marker of childhood for us nostalgic millenials!

This was an important essay for me last year - telling part of my dad's story. It's more straight story-telling with a news bent, but something I hope resonated with others: www.yahoo.com/news/dad-got...

The Garden A Memoir by Erin Hall The Monday after dad’s funeral, mom and my brother go back to work. They want to escape the rot consuming the house – flowers no longer in bloom, dad’s empty chair. I do not. …

Proud of this flash CNF piece that ran early this year, documenting the journey of grief: brightflash1000.com/2024/01/04/t...

Getting my bearings here & would love to read some stirring work & uplift other writers. Let's use this thread to share: a recent publication, a favorite piece. CNF, fiction, poetry, essay, anything. I'll drop mine below & hope this helps us connect & find comfort in art #writingcommunity

Hey there #writingcommunity! Can we start a thread of folks looking to regroup here outside of X? For reference, I mainly write CNF and personal essays, but am working on additional PB and memoir projects, and looking to experiment more in fiction and poetry!
