Summer is a better experience than the fall/winter seasons.

Two phantasy star GBA carts. The top cart is labeled a legitimate cart. The bottom cart is a reproduction.

Things to look out for - 1. The bevel is off here, it is more round then the official cart above. 2. The logo itself is wrong, there is no racetrack around the word (racetrack= the oval you see here) there is instead a stroke (a line that follows the shape of the letters). The letters in the repro are also embossed, whereas in the real cart the stroke around the logo is a deboss. 3. the ridge at the top of the cart is too rounded and not set as deep in the plastic as the real cart. 4. The color of the cart is too dark. 5. The ridge at the side is too rounded. 6. The sticker is too small for the cart and has a very rounded edge. 7. The seal is slightly skewed and the stroke inside of the circle is too thick. 8. Arrow is debossed too deep. 9. the ESRB is too small and blurry. This will always be a very telling sign. ESRB has very strict standards on how it has to be displayed so if this is wrong, that is not a good sign. 10. The overall art has been changed from the original. 11. the layout for the AGB-XXXX-USA is always the same which means it is always on the bottom right. If you see ESRB, quality seal, or this serial number in inconsistent areas, that is a red flag.

Things to look out for - 1. Ridges are too wide and debossed. 2. Screw is different although this one may not necessarily be off because I have seen different official games with different screws. 3. First of all it says "Ninfendo" the logo is also embossed with a higher relief than the official game. the weight of the logo is also too thin. Also missing the PAT. PEND MADE IN JAPAN line. Model No typeface is different. 4. This line is raised too high 5. This is debossed too deep, also is too small. 6. This ridge is too small.

As you can see on the real carts, the Nintendo racetrack logo or the Nintendo wordmark should be on the inside of the cartridge. The AGB-XXX-XX should also be present. On the repro, none of that is present. The contacts are also longer and not as spaced out.

I made these images a while back in the hopes I could help people when shopping for GBA games. I want them to be able to look out for games that could be repros. This is not an exhaustive list but here are a few tips. Hope you find this info useful!
