It’s simple, maybe even a bit dumb, but it does what I need: checks for SSL issues, directory listings, exposed sensitive files, DNS checks, and a few other things.

I think a learning curve and diving into web3 development will depend on kind of apps you want to build. AFAIK, there are only two options: fully-decentralized on-chain apps; and web3-web2 platforms where you store data in different storages to save gas or for any other reasons.
