And sometimes we can have a precise action on a predator : 1/ knowing that it is not the real cause of the problem, and 2/ in parallel we have to act on the real causes or find a way to protect without killing as possible (in some natural reserves, we can protect nesting sites quite efficiently)

Yes this is difficult, I agree. How I present things, in my job : I try to get the picture as big as possible : presenting the role of the species on the ecosystem, knowing that sometimes this ecosystem is deeply damaged and some species suffers from predation instead of absorbing it.

Actually you are completely right on this point : I certainly do not want to minimize the role of other predators by putting light on foxes ;)
Today is the fox, tomorrow will be the crows.
Thanks for the paper, this is a bit reassuring.

Foxes are usually just seen as "boring neighbors that I would prefer to get rid off...", and I think this is necessary to change. And this change has to go by the understanding that little carnivores are rodents predators, and has other roles than spreading diseases and eating chicken.

This makes things quite difficult to get, but I think this is really important to communicate on the role of predators, so they are not just seen as pests. I do a lot of animations on this theme, and usually, people and children just don't know that foxes or weasels can be useful for them.

Thanks for your input and the literature. It certainly depends on a lot of factors and fox is not the only predator of rodents, but it's one of the mains. Otherwise, as it is quite massively hunted, this also reduces its impact.
And we still don't know exactly it population size...

Hunted right down to its burrow, branded a “pest”, the #fox is actually one of our best crop auxiliaries! He eats 15 rodents a day.
As a result, he saves tons of crops and protects us from Lyme disease, whose reservoir is the vole.
The fox needs no regulation.

In the world, 12% of bird species are threatened. In Switzerland, this number is up to 40% (+20% of "near threatened").
Let's observe them, draw them, while it's still possible.
