It's becoming apparent that we started this illegal war and committed a horrendous war crime in the opening hours.

Quite literally βwe have always been at war with Iran.β
Did Schumer let slip Israelβs plans to unleash nukes during this war? Because that sounds like one heck of a Freudian slip.
After Hartford cops killed two men needing mental health help on two occasions within nine days, I am having all sorts of conversations with people about beanbags and tasers and riot shields and training. And maybe that's all good and proper. But the simpler answer is "no guns."
Photo of a cardinal and another bird in a tree. They're in motion. It's not a great pic, but it's being used because birds are more pleasant to look at than stock photos of police buildings or cars.
Hartford police shot two men in nine days.
It's time to disarm the police.

the encampment students were right!
News post from Al Jazeera: "Large swathe of US Congress in support of attack on Iran" By Kimberly Halkett Reporting from The White House Congress is aware of what happened overnight. The administration briefed the so-called βgang of eightβ, that is, the Democrats, as well as the Republican leadership, in both the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the US Congress and the Senate. That message has already been disseminated. So itβs no surprise to the Congress. Add to that, there was at least a large swath of the Congress that was very supportive of this and had been pushing for conflict with Iran. As recently as last Tuesday, Marco Rubio, the secretary of state and also the national security adviser for the president, was on Capitol Hill, briefing the members on Iran."
Fundamentally broken system. Vote them out.
Hartford Police hace shot two men in the last week who needed mental health help. Everard Walker, whom they killed last week, was in his own apartment. His family called 211 and we're clear he wasn't a danger. He still ended up with 11 cops in his apartment. The shooting this morning...

Turns out it was a report on how the City is tackling (particularly out-of-state) landlords for not clearing their sidewalks.

Prosecute.
Crosswalk access obstructed by unplowed snow
Do these property owners expect me to fly from sidewalk to crosswalk?
Woodland and Farmington, as always
Canβt wait to find out why a WFSB news crew is doing an on-the-ground report from Fairfield Ave. If itβs about the cityβs response to snow clearing, I could suggest some prime examples!

I'm not entirely sure how they did it, but they've completely cleared the streets around my office in Midtown #NYC.
They paid a lot of people good wages to do the job effectively, thank you for coming to my socialism talk
How wonderful, the snow has finally melted down enough that I can see parts of the yard! Now to take a nice sip of hot coffee while I read this weekend weather report
Spent part of the afternoon at the New Britain Museum of American Art.
If youβve never been, I canβt recommend it enough! An incredible collection of local Connecticut and New England art
tweet from @cliftonhowze on twitter Last night at the #DataCenters meeting in Claremore, Darren Blanchard, who has attended most of these meetings around NE Oklahoma & has some pretty impressive FOIA/ORA skills, was arrested after going over his 3 min. allotted speaking time. First arrest I've seen at one of these.
in america, if you go over your 3 minute allotment to speak, men with guns come to take you away.
Nice to know we're at the "Holding a Press Conference to Announce That I'm Stealing Your Money" phase of this dictatorship.
look at my country man, weβre getting out-No Kingsβd by the fuckinβ british
Anyone know why there was so much traffic on local Hartford roads this afternoon? I've never seen Park Road so gridlocked (outside of a parade/marathon).

Just reminded of the ticked-off faces of the other countries at my senior year statewide Model UN when my school was the US and our security council guy bailed at the last minute.
We were due to oppose the creation of the Intentional Criminal Court.
Not a good look then; not a good look now.
Oh, so ICE is "leaving" MN because they're not getting funded any more? Am I getting this right? What a concept.
Leader Jeffries and Democrats in D.C. have told working people for years that if they just give Democrats more money, theyβll fight back next time. βNext timeβ never comes. Nothing will change until we elect people who refuse to play by the old rules. #democraticprimary #peoplepower
The City decided to clear a portion of Hillside Ave (and only Hillside Ave) of snow all the way to the curb, and my god, how much space we sacrifice so we can drive comfortably fast.

DeLauro doubling down on the βwe can reform our fascist paramilitaryβ stance.
The top βreformsβ she is calling for are already the law.
She wants to keep the concentration camps & child prisons she helped to build.
Sheβs part of the problem, not the solution.

Just about every major decision made by the City of Hartford since the 1950s can come down to the question, "is this something that will make life worse for city residents, worsen the city's finances, but will ultimately please our suburban betters?", and the answer more often than not will be "yes"
It would be good to tie this very real problem and this useful step by City Council to the fact that last year, some Council members proposed rolling back the city's program to extend its bike lane network, after illegally suspending bike lane parking enforcement for a year.
I suspect there are a lot of House Democrats in their 70s or 80s who think they're going to coast back into a comfortable leadership position by keeping their head down and riding the blue wave, but they're going to have to navigate these kinds of challenges first and most are not ready at all.
