Iβd love to explore all options, including tax reform, closing offshore tax evasion loopholes, ending subsidies for highly profitable large-scale industry, windfall profits / wealth taxβ¦. Something tells me the govβt isnβt exploring βallβ options though.

Maybe we could have both if we taxed the oligarchs instead of funding their losses at the expense of the public purse.

Prime Minister Carney yesterday announced the largest amount of money to be spent on Defence since the Second World War.180 billion directly and 290 billion in spin offs which in total will create 125,000 jobs.
Screenshot of a calculator showing 470000000000/125000 =3,760,000
Yeah no spending 3.76 million per new job seems like a really good return on investment, couldnβt have designed a better economic system myself

Ottawa gives Canada Post a $1.01-billion loan
The federal government says it is making more than $1 billion available to Canada Post in the form of a repayable loan to help the Crown corporation.
The government is giving a loan to a Crown corporation that should just be a public service that we pay for because it provides an essential task that Canadians depend on.
We donβt provide loans to the health care system or schools; we just pay for them.

And yet the question to us is always βwould you rather have less paramedics or less teachers??? πβ Your choice!

2026-2027 Pre-budget consultation
NB govβt is seeking public feedback on the budget.
Funny how taxing industry to pay its fair share isnβt one of the options for feedback we can provide, though π

Little tweaks to tax credit systems are the go to policies when liberals donβt actually give a shit about Canadians but want a quick little win in the news cycle or bump to their polling numbers. We see it and weβre sick of it.

The govβt literally commissioned a report on this 2 years ago & youβll never believe it but a wee one time cash payment & tiny tax credit increase ainβt in the recommendations

Statistics Canada to cut 850 jobs in 'dark time' for public service, union says
Federal statistics agency entered its workforce adjustment period Monday, sending notices to thousands of employees.
Quite frankly, itβs outrageous that Mark Carney is cutting Statistics Canada. If he was Stephen Harper or Pierre Poilievre, I feel like this would be getting a lot more backlash.
Carney of all people should know the importance of high-quality data and information about the country.
