London is a diaspora city and that means whatever happens anywhere in the world can impact people here. Local plumber said his mother moved to a village in the countryside from her home in Tehran and she called his sister to say bombs are falling there too. Poor guy felt helpless.

What I would do to be in Newcastle for the oilclassico!

Not just the game, but pregaming at The Trent House or The Strawberry for a 8p kickoff on a Sat night!

Should be illegal.

Hard to stress how epic last night was, as a live experience. People talk of fans β€œsucking the ball into the goal” on a terrace behind; it felt like we built a wall in front of ours. Not sure I’ve felt an away end so vocal, tribal and together for years.

The thing about siege mentality - it works.

The team at the bottom of the league just took seven points from their last three home games against Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool, scoring in stoppage time in each. Sounds like a pretty competitive league to me.

Among points discussed: How the away version of the Trump merch Infantino wore during his turn at Board of Peace was sat atop Trump’s head as he announced war with Iran.

How the strange peace prize looks even stranger today.

Interesting that Pep thinks it's weird that Citeh face Real again in the CL draw.

You know what's weird, a team that has 115 charges against it yet continues to play in the Prem, League Cup, FA Cup, and CL...

As many much smarter than me have said, this is a disaster for the industry and city of Los Angeles.

Tens of thousands will lose jobs directly linked to the studios and tens of thousands that indirectly support the industry will be affected too.

Netflix Backs Out of Bid for Warner Bros., Paving Way for an Ellison Takeover

The richest man owns X.

The second and third richest men control Google.

The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.

And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.

See the problem here?

Some simple maths and "promises" in the Paramount Skydance deal for WBD...

- $6bn in cost savings which means a massive reduction in staff

- 30 films/year by the combined companies, although in 2025 both studios released 17 films

CBS Sports owned the conversation on a night of Champions League controversy Not for the first time, the U.S. broadcaster has set the standard in how to cover a difficult, but vital, story

From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: CBS’s coverage of the racism storm around Vinicius Junior was forensic, empathetic and exhaustive, our columnist writes β€” and another example of the U.S. broadcaster owning a big Champions League moment. nyti.ms/3MQ5H56

The Guardian view on the BBC World Service: this is London calling | Editorial Editorial: With just seven weeks before its funding runs out, the UK’s greatest cultural asset and most trusted international news organisation must be supported

It’s beyond insane that the BBC World Service might end in 7 weeks when its funding runs out. A beacon of information, education and UK soft power - Ministers would be crazy not to find money to support it
