For the followers of Jesus, wars are never holy.
For the followers of Jesus, wars are never holy.
What might a healthy, growing church community look like?
If Christianity is to have anything to do with Christ, then it must look like Jesus.
The followers of Jesus are to be like Jesus.
Following Jesus means actually following Jesusβin how we live, in how we talk, in how we act, in how we love.
"Blessed are the peacemakers"
Jesus
If anyone says that a war is ordained by God
They are lying
Following Jesus isnβt simply about believing the right thingsβitβs about actually living out His love in such a way that our neighbours experience us as a blessing.
Following Jesus looks like lovingkindess.
It looks like peace & peacemaking.
It looks like grace.
It looks like mercy.
It looks like loving our enemies.
It looks like selflessness & self-sacrifice.
It looks like humility.
It looks like gentleness.
It loves like Jesus.
God is not on the side of the people dropping bombs.
Christianity is meant to look like Jesus.
That was the original definition for the term.
It doesn't look like power, it doesn't look like wealth, it doesn't look like hate, it doesn't look like violence, and it often doesn't look like victory.
But it does look like Jesus.
(The followers of Jesus do not follow those who drop bombs. Period.)
The followers of Jesus do not follow those who drop bombs on children.
βDo not fear the power of authorities.
Fear the tears of the oppressed for God is with them.β
~Fr. Andrei Tkachev

My tweet from February 26, 2021:
"If you can talk someone into it, someone more eloquent can talk them out of it."
Evergreen:
Bombing people is always wrong.
Always.
Loving our neighbours in public is not war.
Christianity isnβt a logical belief system.
Itβs a mystic faith that has changed us from the inside out because of what we have experiencedβ& it is shown & shared through our loving actions that follow the way of Jesus.
I love this so much:
From our kids at church:
politics is the simplest and most practical way you can love your neighbors.
instead itβs been separated from faith in a way that is actively harmful to those itβs meant to help, to the benefit of the rich and powerful.
In a recent survey at my church, one unhappy member advised that we should remove all politics from worship, citing the separation of church and state.
The separation of church and state, though, is a rule to limit governmentsβ¦

And the better team won both games.
Jesus wasn't apolitical.
Through our lives and by our prayers, may Jesus's Kingdom come and will be done here in our communities as we love our neighbours.
Haha, we didnβt burn the White House down in 1812 to do something silly like that. π₯

fully agree with this, its contextual and too many people use it as a way to avoid taking an active role in faith & works. I've done it myself, because its too easy to just say "give it to God" when I'm too scared to step in... this entire year...
I also think letting go & trusting God to nourish us enables us to be more faithful actors of Godβs goodness! If we actually trust God & let go, then that WILL lead us away from holding tightly to what is temporary to act in creative & loving ways.
Thanks Pastor Tim!
As a π¨π¦, I would like to congratulate to our πΊπΈ sisters & brothers on their Olympic hockey gold medals!
We are so very glad to see you embrace π¨π¦ culture in this way, & weβd like to encourage you to consider other ways you can embrace even more π¨π¦ ideals!
