I need the why to be more than because Bibi and Trump wanted to but so far I haven't heard anything different in all of the stated reasons.
Right, this is why I am likely wrong. However, if Iran is leaderless and unable to fulfill oil contracts...
Personal opinion and likely wrong:
What if the real reason for this war is simply to raise oil prices so OPEC can benefit from the rise and hard to access resources (Venezuela and US shale fields) are more cost effective to exploit? Side benefit to the Sunni regimes is crippling majority Shia Iran.
"To be happy at home is the end of all human endeavor. The sun looks down on nothing half so good as a household laughing together over a meal... and all economics, politics, laws, armies, and institutions, are only valuable in so far as they prolong and multiply such scenes."

It should be alarming to people that the executive branch keeps comparing a constitutional right to privileges that one needs to qualify for through age attainment and economic means. These arguments are disingenuous and the media is not calling it out. This is very disappointing and dangerous.

A rectangular promotional graphic for the useR! 2026 Conference. On the left, large bold text reads βuseR! 2026 Conference Warsaw,β followed by the dates β6β9 July 2026β and the location βWarsaw School of Economics & Online.β The typography is clean and modern, set against a white background. On the right, a 2Γ2 grid of four square panels displays a fractalβstyle geometric pattern: each square shows a progressively more detailed zoomβin of a swirling, branching, blueβandβpurple fractal shape on a light background. Beneath the main graphic, a banner states: βThe useR! 2026 Call For Proposals is open until March 8th!β The overall design is bright, mathematical, and visually structured, emphasizing both the conference branding and the CFP announcement.

Without trusted data, insurers can't meet internal or regulatory requirements to offer products across geographies; forcing the state to step in as insurer of last resort. This is an unacceptable risk to taxpayers. Congress, do your damn job!
A great keynote this morning! Thank you so much, @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com!

My sister & I had the same driving instructor in S. California. All of my lessons were in a convertible VW Rabbit. I spent an entire summer with that top down driving all over. Gave me my favorite cassette tape I asked to play every time I got in the car. He was likely happy to get rid of it.
It will depend on how the technology is being adopted and managed by organizations. This, in turn, is dependent upon how the organization manages their data - how clean, accessible, & trustworthy is it? GIGO is still a very real problem and LLMs let loose on badly managed data isn't going to fix it.
Risk 2026 is this week, there's still plenty of time to register!

I love how tiny I am. Tiny and mighty πͺ(within a localized area / your experience will vary).
I want a national rail service that supports a realistic alternative to regional air and bus travel.
Every once in a while I get really angry that the US doesn't have reliable, timely, and affordable rail travel all across the country.
I just bought one of your purple dragons for my DIL. So pretty and fun.
I've worked with Claude to create a natural-language interface to Census data. It generates #RStats tidycensus code to answer a user's query.
If of interest, here's the R package with the usual disclaimers (AI can make mistakes! Check the code! Use at your own risk!)
