any time a successful indie game is made by someone with a totally unhealthy relationship to work and no work/life balance it just creates that expectation for everyone else. you can't make an art scene off of people who are isolating and torturing themselves with work

you need to be shenmuemaxxing. you need to appreciate the mundane beauties of your urban environment. you need to third wheel with immigrant hot dog venders and their hot girlfriends. you need to be eating lunch with your boys on the docks every day. you need to play hang-on

one wonderful thing about the new game making philosophy i'm seeing emerge is that people aren't trying for a commercial edge, they're just doing things they're excited about. we're all doing weird specific and complimentary experiments in parallel. we're all collaborating and enriching one another.

Dreams on a Pillow - a videogame experience about theΒ 1948Β Nakba, based onΒ aΒ trueΒ story | LaunchGood
A pseudo-3D stealth adventure game about a land full of people being made into a people without land
After years away from game dev, I couldnβt stay silent about my peopleβs dehumanization. I made Dreams on a Pillow πa game inspired by a famous Palestinian folktale about the 1948 Nakba.
Iβm crowdfunding it nowβplease back & share!

no matter what you do in games, no matter how successful or unsuccessful your game is: you are on the chopping block. the executives will sacrifice you to pad their wallets.
