Maybe they should try creating positive legislation if theyβd like positive coverage. That may be too big of an βaskβ.

Bumble with tips for snowy dining
Serious question - why does apparently every snow storm have a name now? We had one named Blair and evidently one named Cora? I thought only tropical storms and hurricanes got names? @kyweather.bsky.social

βTogether with authors, publishers, booksellers, librarians, and readers everywhere, we applaud the Courtβs carefully crafted decision upholding the constitutional right to read.β
Joint statement from American Booksellers Association, Association of American Publishers, Authors Guild; Freedom to Read Foundation, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Pearlβs Books, and WordsWorth Books.
Freedom to Read Foundation
An end-of-year win for the freedom to read!
A US District Court has declared portions of Arkansas Act 372 unconstitutional, a law that would have subjected librarians and booksellers to potential prosecution and severely limited readersβ access to books.

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

Just gotta say how refreshing it is that during my morning scroll that I found 3 things I wanted to like and share with others instead of 10 things that made me angry and want to burn the world down. This is why I used to like teacher/librarian Twitter.

Just because it's not a NEW idea doesn't mean it's a bad idea! I frequently tell people that libraries will always have the same basic purpose, but that over time we will find new ways to do the old activities. I like the old things like connecting kids with books and I have no plans to stop!

One of fascism's main tactics is to physically and mentally exhaust you. To flood the zone with outrageous bullshit, to make you bite on a dozen pump-fakes β so that when the real shot comes, you're too worn out to react.
We need to pace ourselves. It's only been a week. Alert fatigue is dangerous
