Was a bit of a shock to the system, but I’ve def been more productive. More so as time goes on. I’m still here on Bluesky, but that’s my only social media outlet at the moment and I maybe check in here once a day. Going to keep this going for a while. Feels good.

After more than 15 years of active use I decided to take a break from Instagram a couple weeks ago. Since then my daily screen time has dropped by more than half. I’m still at several hours a day, but that’s mostly work stuff and reading news articles from subscription sites.

Trump just ordered the military into Portland, and he’s giving them the green light to use lethal force on American citizens.

Authoritarianism is an abstract concept but Trump is making its impacts real and tangible. Let’s be real about it: This is the beginning of dictatorship in America.

“The president should be removed from office because he is plainly insane.”

I mean, there is no war in Portland. There just isn’t. You can’t & won’t avoid reporting this story. But you’ll still find a way to try to report it in a way that gives him the benefit of the doubt.

And that’s wrong.

Troops are going to be deployed to Portland, OR. Unbelievable. Was just there last weekend. This is ridiculous.

Totally agree. We all deserve someone who can be vulnerable. Pretty sure, though, the men who advertise it in the examples you shared are anything but. The number of male influencers that are coaching single men to play that game would blow your mind.

But if we’re strictly talking about what people post on a dating app profile, how can you know they’re being genuine in the examples you shared? Do you roll the dice?

Fair enough. I was definitely generalizing.

In a perfect world you could believe it, but the reality is a guy who advertises he likes to be dissed is full of it. In fact he probably hates it.

One of the few times I won’t criticize the lack of foam on a beer.

IMO If a man is advertising vulnerability to the world (on a dating app) they’re playing. The internet is not a place to show weakness. Any man who does is either really naive or more likely so full of themselves they think they can make a woman believe it.

Pretty sure it’s someone’s idea of reverse psychology. Disingenuous vulnerability maybe? No dude I know wants to be bullied or ridiculed to make a woman feel better. Some gentle ribbing can be fun, but advertising your desire to be owned by someone you’ve never met is BS. Red flag, Ladies.

You probably don’t see it in your feeds, but there are male dating influencers coaching this approach. You can’t believe anything on dating sites anymore. I’m sure there are female equivalents. Algorithms rule everything.
