In worms, polarity of somatic cells are controlled by 3 Wnt and 3 receptors. We comprehensively combined their mutations to uncover their specific functions. We also showed that Wnts have both instructive and permissive functions to control cell polarity orientation.

New paper from the lab! Many animal cells exhibit chiral cell surface dynamics, which are proposed to drive left–right asymmetric patterning. However, the molecular mechanisms linking these events remain unclear. authors.elsevier.com/a/1l%7E7B3QW...
Very sad news, John Gurdon has died.
A developmental biologist's developmental biologist, Nobel prize winner
His work is the foundation of much of today's dev & stem cell bio.

The paper was introduced in JC. I was so impressed that the gradient is established in this system with huge? extracellular space (volume of media) compared to limited space in vivo. I guess the gradient is formed by spreading along the membrane rather than diffusion into media. 🎉 for great work!
Crossing on red light!

Poster prize too🎉‼️😊
Congratulation for the grand prize! #worm25 Art Show
As it’s my first time joining Worm Meeting, I was excited to participate in Worm Art show as well.
This year’s topic is resilience. In times of scarcity, worms gather holding one another to reach new grounds. Alone - they are fragile, together - they rise. Even the sky yields in unity. #worm25

Big news: we are setting up a new non-profit organization to run bioRxiv and medRxiv. It's called openRxiv [no it's not a new preprint server; it's dedicated organization to oversee the servers] openrxiv.org 1/n

This has been a big controversial issue in Japan🥺
I am thrilled that our paper, which is packed with our 10 years of data on the venom proteins of the parasitoid wasp Asobara japonica, has just been published!
