Oh god. Whatβd he say?
Oh god. Whatβd he say?
I say this as a fan of theirs: it would be really, really great if Boomer and Gio would cut the politics out of their act. Itβs insufferable and completely played out - just focus on sports and check the politics at the door
I was at Game 5. After he threw the ball away, in the funereal quiet that engulfed the stadium, I stood up and shouted βI make that throw, Duda!β
Iβm not a booer. Iβm there to root positively for my team.
But it had to be said.
Honestly donβt think I ever saw Pete throw a ball with anything approaching that level of conviction, my god
A retired Minneapolis couple who had guns pointed at them by ICE in a church parking lot.
"They were obviously not trained at all. I've known many police officers in my life. These people were right off the streets."
"They had the professional demeanor of criminals."

It would be hilarious if Gavin Newsom, day 1 in office, renamed βRonald Regan Washington National Airportβ to βGavin Newsom and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airportβ
I think the βshouldnβt they have just added pitchingβ question is a totally fair one. The only thing I can assume is they assessed there was no way to build a team that βshouldβ beat the LA. So that team would just be stuck (kind of like the Phillies, a perpetually good team that isnβt good enough)
Fans want to win. That group had 4-6 years together and didnβt win. All good players get worse over time. Alonso and Diaz I would have retained, but neither is likely to be as good going forward as theyβve been (itβs possible though). Nimmo and McNeil I wonβt think twice about moving on from
Did you watch this team last year? They were complete garbage - and that was with Alonso, Nimmo and Diaz having excellent seasons
A thing I was trying to decide for myself: what are the 3 defining moments of Brandon Nimmoβs career?
No matter what they are, can we agree theyβre nowhere near as iconic as similarly long-tenured Mets?
As I remember it, he yelled that in the playoff series against the Cardinals I think it was (must have been in 2000) after Piazza had been slumping and finally got a big hit. Did he do it every time Piazza came up?
I was with my HS baseball team for spring training in Arizona. After practice, the only thing to do was go to the mall. Someone there randomly asked if we wanted to see a horror spoof that would come out later that year: Scary Movie. Not sure Iβve seen the movie since then but I never laughed harder
Love it or hate it itβs a strategy! And until they sign or trade for someone who can help the team next year itβs the only thing that fits so far
Iβve decided the only thing that makes sense is theyβre building for 2027. Devin Williams as a top tier reliever with multi year control to be traded at the deadline. Stacked farm system tor 2027+ and give young players 2026 to develop. All about the next core
A thing that Iβve thought about a lot today: whatever positive memories we all have of Alonso, Diaz and Nimmo, the Mets were unwatchable last year. It was brutal watching them given the way they played. Diaz was never part of that. Nimmo, to me, was a big part of it. Alonso was kind of part of it.
You and me. Consumers who are given money by the firms. How, how much, etc - undefined
Stood next to him at the urinal during a screening of Armageddon on the upper east side. Heβs quite tall!
Great glove, phenomenal hitter. Mets fans who idolize the late 90s teams adore Olerud. He left in free agency to play for his hometown team, which is a choice you can live with as a fan
Great year in β99, stole a ton of bases (66 maybe? Think it was the franchise record before Reyes broke it) then we traded him for Mike Hampton who helped us make the World Series the next year. Came back a couple years later and was dreadful. Weβll always have β99 though
People in professional settings, which the athletes in all sports youβre watching on TV are in, understand there are forums and situations where it is inappropriate to curse. Itβs not unreasonable to believe it should apply to this profession as well, esp with its visibility among children
Just pray Soto doesnβt get thrown out on that first attempted steal at Citi Field
Poor Gilbert Gomez gonna hear it from the home fans during Coach introductions, isnβt he?
All time banger
Alex Feinberg sounds like a fucking moron
I recall fans compulsively breaking out in a βThrow! The! Ball!β chant sometime late in a lost season when he was in full human rain delay mode. Lover of fine wines. The minors stint and the notable improvement afterward comes to mind any time an established player is struggling, an Alvy-esque delta
Started the first game at Citi Field and let up a bomb to the very first batter, which was equal parts sad and hilarious. Billy Wagner made t-shirts one spring training that read βGo Big Pelfβ which could be interpreted as a kind of βletβs goβ for Big Pelf, or for Pelf to go big. Unclear.
He makes a ton of sense for the Marlins
He was with the Mets still when they debuted their black jerseys at an event in the offseason. He gave them his stamp of approval, saying, βI like them, theyβre like our gangster togsβ (maybe βgangstaβ - not sure). That phrase lives rent free in my head
Itβs October 23, 2025. Have you ever been in a ballroom in your whole life?
Iβm confused. Why are you referencing performance though 30 games when he coached 45?
I remember bumping into Max Scherzer when he was a Mets. I asked him for a picture, he took one look at me, shook his head dismissively and said, βIβm walkinβ here!β Which, if youβre gonna be rebuffed in such a request, is truly the perfect way for it to happen
