It's because he worked on some scenes in a couple of popular/iconic modern cartoons and those tend to stick around in internet culture. And because he worked on those cartoons, people found his early work back at Disney and Dreamworks

As someone developing a fantasy film set in a world with racism, yes I wanna see *more* fantasy settings WITHOUT racism too.

I think it'd be super interesting seeing how different conflicts play out on other fantastical worlds without planet Earth's stupid, useless, largely made-up baggage.
