This is authoritarianism, plain and simple.
The Trump administration is targeting states that didnโt vote for him โ including my home state of Vermont.
Using federal power to punish political opponents is anti-democratic and blatantly illegal.
On open protocols, your main goal should not be to serve everyone. We tried that, and it's a mess out there.
Serve your community, the one you understand the needs of. Build something *you* want. You'd be surprised at how many you's are out there waiting for the exact same thing.
Nowโฆ I donโt know how many people will stream from the iPhone vs use OBS or something on the desktop, but since you offered the option in the app I decided to try it.
Other than โ๏ธ, the experience was quite good. Nice job!
โฆ but that was not intuitive to me. I would suggest having a button or something that was very clear about how to end. (Unless I completely missed it!)
Also, I found a couple of times that the keyboard wouldnโt go away, and I had to randomly tap things until it eventually disappeared.
@iame.li - Hello! So I just tried my first stream from the iPhone app today, and my big piece of feedback is thatโฆ I had no idea how to END my live stream! ๐ฑ
There was no button to end or anything. I eventually figured out that if I clicked the arrow in the top left to โgo backโ, butโฆ

Welllll... first I have to setup OBS again and get that all going. ๐The computer I was using for my livestreaming died... (hard drive failure!)... and I just never got around to setting up another one. I mean... OBS is not hard at a basic level... but I just have to go do it!
Today, for over 6 billion people the #Internet is woven into the fabric of our daily lives - and that is enabled by the open standards created by the #IETF ! From IP and TCP to DNS to HTTP to TLS and more... those interoperable standards are what make the Internet possible! Congrats on 40 years! ๐
A screen showing that when you start streaming on Twitch, your Bluesky avatar can get a red ring with the word "LIVE" on it. When people click on your avatar, they will then go straight to your stream.
Intrigued to see this on Bluesky when I logged in... just last night as part of #Wikipedia25 I wrote about the #livestreaming I used to do on #Twitch for #Wikipedia editing. I may pick it up again sometime, and this integration is interesting.

Wow! This is fascinating! I've been streaming on Twitch off and on over the years. I use OBS, so I'll be interested to try out your system. Great to see you doing this!
Either way, Adams and her friends donโt plan to go quietly. When one app asked them to submit a selfie for an age verification system, they used a photo of a golden retriever they found on Google. It worked, she said.
I see the Australian social media ban is off to a great start.

Submarine cable cuts in the Red Sea disrupt connectivity between Europe and Asia.
Latency spikes as traffic is re-routed around the broken cables. @kentik.bsky.social's Cloud Latency Map captures the impacts here:

Fascinating (and long) article about how people in China are turning to DeepSeek for medical answers .. even knowing those answers may be wrongโฆ largely because it is so much easier to engage with the LLM instead of engaging with the actual medical system.

@planet4589.bsky.social - I'm a little confused. You mention the Xingwang constellation, but SpaceNews is saying this launch was Guowang ( spacenews.com/china-launch... ) as is Space . com ( www.space.com/space-explor... ). Are *they* confused? Or which constellation is this? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
We just recorded an *emergency episode* (wee-oo wee-oo alert alert) about Apple pulling Advanced Data Protection, their E2E encryption for iCloud Notes and Backups, from the UK market, with special guests @josephhall.org and @matthewdgreen.bsky.social. Short and to the point, out this week.
Today, CDT & 100+ civil society orgs, companies, & cybersecurity experts โ as part of an effort led by the Global #Encryption Coalition (GEC) โ submitted a letter to British Home Secretary calling on the UK Home Office to rescind its demand that Apple create a backdoor into its #E2EE services.

This is mine: A 150-year-old font you have likely never heard of, and one you probably saw earlier today.
