Veiled Figures by Raffaele Monti (1818–1881). Monti was an Italian sculptor, author and poet born in Milan. He studied under his father, the noted sculptor Gaetano Matteo Monti in the Imperial Academy. In 1846, Monti travelled to England and later settled there.

The main example I know of off the top of my head was Emily Wilding Davison who died running in front of the king's horse. There were questions then and since as to her mental health. She had also thrown herself from a balcony in prison. There has been lots written about her already of course...
