Sylvia Gore was a significant figure in the development of women's football in England, first as a player (and pioneering England international) and later as a coach and administrator.
This May 1975 edition of the Evertonian indicates that she followed the Toffees in that era.
Itβs International Womenβs Day, so there is no better time to explore the excellent content on @evertonwomen.bsky.social (and its previous incarnations) on our website, and the website of our member, EFC Statto:

- which will have Paul McParlan taking about the Toffees' most recent league-winning season, what are your standout memories of that 86/87 campaign?
Times were often bleak for the Blues in the late 1940s, with scoring goals proving problematic. But on 5 March 1949, the Toffees hit five past Blackpool without reply. Eddie Wainwright, pictured in white, scored four times.
We are looking forward to our third talk/social night event, tomorrow evening. Paul McParlan will be talking all things Everton 1986/87 at the Denbigh Castle.

Sixty years ago, in the equivalent fixture, Everton held relegation fighting Newcastle to a 0-0 draw. The Blues extended their unbeaten run to 14 games, without conceding in eight. Deploying a 4-3-3 system, with a forward line of Trebilcock, Temple and Husband, they moved into 7th place.

Wishing former EFC striker Alan Biley a happy 69th birthday. One of Howard Kendallβs first signings as the Bluesβ manager, Alanβs star soon waned and after 21 appearances (3 goals) he left for Portsmouth, after a spell on loan at Stoke City.

Learning our history with the @evertonheritage.bsky.social team. New facts and stops from last year - the learning continues!
It's 126 years to the day since legendary goalkeeper Leigh Roose won his first Wales cap in a 2-0 win against Ireland. He was playing for Aberystwyth Town at the time having just completed a science degree at Aberystwyth University. Very proud to be Leigh's biographer, so I am.
