I ride my bike, get angry at cars, talk about disability advocacy, eat baked goods, and make sure Gus is well fed. I hail from the best state in New England.

The phrase "treat autism" fills me with so much rage.

I am utterly humorless and relentless about this: you absolutely should never, ever, not for one second, not only a minor, obvious point, never hand it to this man.

Agreed. I think that anger and rage is entirely warranted! I'm filled with it. I refuse to see my anti-vaxxer sister-in-law. But if I was her doctor it would be a lot different. And to your point, a teacher or daycare worker or other parent has every right to be furious!

Every increase of 10 mph also carries a greater risk of the pedestrian being hit in the first place.

Like, in an ideal world we'd have rigid vaccine mandates everywhere but we don't, so health professionals need to take the best approach to encourage vaccination. That doesn't mean they're sympathetic to anti-vaxxers though.

Yeah, vaccine hesitancy is a spectrum. Not everyone is an unhinged anti-vaxxer. Some folks have seen misinformation and legitimately aren't sure. In 1:1 settings you need to address this. The goal is to get people to vaccinate not simply scold. There's lots of research showing scolding doesn't work.

What's unclear to me is if she has any legal recourse left?

I know you're making a joke, but speeding is still dangerous no matter the reason, especially on surface streets. Every increase of 10 mph carries a significant risk of death for a person who is hit.

Foxborough is asking for the $7.8M needed to pay for security. Organizers promise they'll pay, but the commitments are hazy.

Kraft, worth over $10B, could easily fund it himself, but it seems that he wants the town to take the risk that Boston Soccer 2026 will have the money to pay the bill.

Excellent!

Frankly, I hope this impasse drags on to the point where the matches in Foxboro get cancelled.

But in any event, the Select Board should unequivocally refuse to budge until the have the cash in hand or at least in an escrow account. Fuck FIFA and everything associated with it!

Real 1770s vibes here. Never bet against a MA town when intransigence and parochial self-interest are on the line.

Gas price hikes & shortages β€œfuel” controversy, especially when they’re β€œdriven” by an illegal war. But let’s not forget one of the most important discussions that should flow from such hikes β€” how they spotlight the difference between places with mobility choices, and places that are car-dependent.

Disability accommodations are a rare thing that actually trickles down. You like curb cutouts? Auto-opening doors? Jar openers? Ramps? Hand rails? YOU’RE WELCOME

Even as an abled person you use disability accommodations every single day.

Supporting accommodations actually helps everyone.

Trump was holding yet another sporting event Friday afternoon at the White House, trying to set policy for college sports, when he was asked by a Fox News reporter about reports that Russia may be passing along intelligence to the Iranians to help them fight the Americans. Trump turned it into a punchline: β€œThat’s an easy problem compared to what we’re doing here,” he cracked, but then he turned on the reporter and said: β€œWhat a stupid question to be asking at this time.”
