Thinking of everyone and hoping all are safe, including residents and first responders. For those affected/displaced by the fire in Lynn Valley, theres a staging/reception area set up at Westlynn Baptist Church (1341 27th St). nsem.ca/during-emerg...
DNV Fire & Rescue Services is fighting a large fire at Silverlynn Apartments in Lynn Valley this morning. I am deeply concerned for the safety of everyone affected but I have limited information at present. My thoughts are with the Silverlynn residents and the firefighting crews.
The BCPVPA & our members are grateful to have supported the development of these critical Ministry guidelines bit.ly/RacismResponse that help BC educators in addressing common issues of racial harm in schools & in understanding the impact of incidents of hate on our communities. #edusky
Beautiful!!!
"Too often, [IEP] goals are written with the assumption that neurodivergent students must adapt to neurotypical behaviors. But what if we shifted the focus to honoring their strengths and supporting authentic engagement?"

Love this! 🙌
I whole heartedly stand with the teacher on this one! Everyone should always be welcome in a classroom. In my opinion, what the district is doing does not create a safe and welcoming environment for all. It is a teacher’s/school’s job to create that! Good for Sarah! #EveryoneIsWelcomeHere.
Wishing everyone a wonderful and well earned Spring Break! Take time to unplug, unwind and rejuvenate over the next couple of weeks. Find that “something” that “Fills your bucket..”. #SpringBreak #Mindfulness #SEL
Thank you for recognizing these important hero’s in our community. All first responders provide invaluable help and support to so many and in turn, some end up with personal health complications as a result of their service. Remembering them for their service and everything they gave is important ❤️

Sugarcane has officially been nominated for the Oscar for Best Documentary! Check it out this weekend and make a residential school denialist mad.
Completely agree! Helping teachers to learn and grow their universal strategies helps ALL learners in a class. We don’t need separation, we need to build community. It increases everyone’s sense of belonging and confidence. #EduSky #InclusiveEd #LeadInclusion
Watching coverage of the horrific/devastating fires in SoCal. My ❤️ goes out to everyone: those who’ve lost homes, all those displaced, the innocent/panicked animals, + first responders who are tirelessly working while witnessing catastrophic scenes. There are ways to help time.com/7205547/los-...
Love this. Growth mindset and the power that the word “yet” offers can be uplifting for all. #EduSky #GrowthMindset
Emotional intelligence is important for anyone at any age. Demonstrating self awareness, showing empathy, building social skills + practicing self regulation are skills we use from professional to personal contexts; in particular during difficult conversations. #EduSky www.aol.com/improve-emot...
Meme of Liam Neeson wearing a suit and pointing towards the cameras that says “I don’t know where you are but Happy New Year to you”
Wherever you are and whatever you celebrate, here’s wishing you all the best tonight and this year! Keep those who treat you with kindness, respect, and love close and let the rest go. #HappyNewYear2025
Distract, debrief and find a resolution. Supporting students to understand why they are acting out and that you are there to help them is so important. “No magic fix..” but don’t we all want and need patience when things feel tough and overwhelming? @edutopia.org 🙌 www.edutopia.org/article/addr...
Black sweatshirt with white writing that says “Principal: noun-just like a normal person only way cooler. See also: amazing, incredible, caring”.
An amazingly thoughtful and kind gift to receive from one of the families I have the pleasure of working with at my school. I will wear it with pride. #LoveMyJob #EduSky #NVSD #HappyHolidays #PrincipalLife
Excited for our learners to have a new school to attend soon!
University of Manitoba History and Indigenous Studies Prof. Sean Carleton doesn't mince words when it comes to the impact of the late Murray Sinclair.
'Quite simply, Murray Sinclair changed Canada forever,' says Carleton on this episode of Face to Face.
Such a good tool for us all!! The emotion wheel can help us identify more closely “where” we are and how we are doing. Using this tool with students is a reflective way to build SEL language, understanding and competency. #SEL #EduSky www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/comm...
One of the quotes that reflects my behaviour as an educator is: “when little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it’s our job to share our calm, not join in their chaos.” (L.R. Knost) We can create predictability + calm for our kiddos to help them feel safe #SEL www.edutopia.org/article/emot...
As the winter solstice gets closer and the days remain darker for now, this is a good reminder of 5 “easy” steps to take to stay connected and energized. It’s never easy to get out of a “funk” but small actions can make a big impact when needed.

Thank you for the beautiful land acknowledgement and sharing of the teachings gifted to you Leona. I will carry that story with me moving forward to hold the respect and connection to the land and the ancestors that cared for it, no matter where I am.
