"When I was an unhappy little boy, going to the library changed my life. It may even have saved it. Amazing as it sounds, literature can do that for you. Books are your ticket to the whole world. They're a free ticket to the entire earth." Billy Connolly
On World Book Day Iβd like simply say that we need more libraries and book swaps. Iβd like to see them everywhere. In every community, shopping centre, school, social club. Wherever we go. And they should be stocked with lots of brand new books as well as old ones.
Good luck. π

Single frame. Karoline Leavitt on the press briefing lectern with a US flag and a large βchocolate wheelβ with coloured panels showing: βREGIME CHANGE -YAY!; THEYβRE TERRORISTS!; THEY HAVE NUKES!; THEY DOT HAVE NUKES YET; WE WANT TO REPLACE THE LEADER; WE KILLED THE REPLACEMENTS; ARMAGEDDON!!!; PRE-EMPTIVE SELF-DEFENCE; BIBI IS OUR FRIEND; (SOME SCHOOLGIRLS MAY HAVE DIED); WHAT OIL?!; MID-TERMS - YIKES!β Leavitt says, βNext question?β
Spin.
My @smh cartoon.
Ouch.
A vibrant, colourful illustration with rainbow rays spreading outward from the centre. In the middle sits a black cloud shape with bold white handwritten text that reads: βYou donβt need permission to fly, the wings are yours + the sky belongs to no one.β The overall tone is uplifting and empowering, with bright reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues and purples radiating behind the message. Picture by @anxiety.positive.
βWhat if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?β Erin Hanson
Sometimes the reminder we need is that we donβt have to wait for permission. Our ideas, our voice, our direction are already ours.
Weβre allowed to go further than we once imagined.
