Muchas gracias!!
I finally did it. PhD defended!!!
These years have been a wild rollercoaster of emotions and hard work, but seeing the final result makes it all worth it. Beyond proud of this achievement.
Dr. Campos has entered the building.
Curious about how polyploidy shapes plant evolution and adaptation? πΏ
Our lab is looking for postdoc candidates to apply for the Juan de la Cierva fellowship (PhD awarded between Jan 2024 β Dec 2025) through @ageinves.bsky.social

A little piece of my PhD journey was shared today at #IBRC2025! I presented insights into the population genomics and evolutionary origins of Brachypodium hybridum, and offered a glimpse into my ongoing work on the pangenome of B. stacei.
Thanks to everyone who joined the session!

Stoked about this manuscript, many years in the making. We present an original resource of ~700 highly curated plastid MAGs of marine pelagic algae. Among these we found a novel deep branching group of plastid genomes; we informally call them leptophytes

Check out this impressive potato genome (graph) study, with @zbao.bsky.social as co-first author! I especially liked the authors' idea of a 'broken window' effect of deleterious SVs, which seem to attract more deleterious mutations (SVs and SNPs) nearby.
