The Trump suing the BBC story is going to go on for a long time. I mean, why not? It's a stupid amount he's claiming to sue for - billions... a sure cert to make it into the news.
Which is the point.
As long as we're looking at that, we're not scrutinising the Epstein files...
If you want to understand how dangerous misleading headlines can be, you need look no further than comments sections of social media posts sharing articles.
The number of times people make wrong assumptions when correct information is provided in the first paragraph of an article is terrifying
Would someone ming explaining to me how, when the BBC is 'caught' doctoring a video to fit a 'left wing' agenda, it is the decidedly right wing director general who ends up resigning?
Call me cynical, but surely that suggests that something else is going on here?
The more I see news reports of a non-white person commiting a heinous crime, without seeing similar stories when white people do the same, the more I feel the media is trying to manipulate me. It hacks me off.
Racists... well, they don't feel that...
My child is now at an age where they are tracking what they got during their trick or treat escapades.
They now know if I have helped myself to the stash.
I no longer like Halloween.
Apart from the ludicrous suggestion that career-motivated politicians care more than teachers, what strikes me is that parents are reporting the system doesn't work.
I wonder how many of these parents encourage their children to read at home.
Education is not just about schools!

For those using the "all refugees are commiting sexual crimes and therefore must go" argument, the same logic would lead to all white men being forced out of the UK.
Between 77% and 89% of these crimes are comitted by white men...
So... Yeah...

Also Gammon: I'm angry because asylum seekers are in abandoned army camps.
Sooner or later, maybe they're going to have to admit it's just they don't like asylum seekers.

I'm amazed the Guardian paid to have the single word 'No' written in response tk this question.
I haven't opened the link, but logic and sense implies that is the only thing in it - right?

I don't understand how the media obsessed with 'balance' can allow someone to spout fundamentally racist logic on national TV without 'balancing' it with someone else calling them an illogical, ill-informed, bigoted and racist fu*kwad.
Doesn't seem all that balanced to me...

I'd never seen this sketch before, but it is pretty apt.

Indeed - I enjoyed this one. Didn't quite get all the wordplay until after I had the answer, but still enjoyable

Hi @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social - quick question from a thoroughly confused teacher. How exactly is cutting state funding to the IB, the most-rounded post-16 qualification on offer in the UK, pro-learning exactly?
The decision to stop funding the IB still has me fuming weeks on. The fact that every time someone who complains the official response is βwell, we're only a small number of students affectedβ makes the βwe're doing this to save moneyβ argument all the more laughable!

That moment in an all staff meeting where the union rep stands up to tell leadership that they can't make teachers do that...

I think the thing for me about Labour and the Tories saying that the Greens 'wouldn't do things right' is that we've tried austerity, anti immigration approaches, brexit, ignoring the environment and not properly taxing wealth and THAT hasn't worked has it?
Wow!
So it's now 5 who recognise the experience and commitment of Jess Phillips, verses 5 who wants her out - a group which includes at least 1 which is working with Reform.
This is now nothing more than Reform trying to destroy the inquiry and undermine the Labour government.
It is worth noting that these comments, which rightly saw this person banned from teaching, would entitle you to a platform on mainstream media if you were a politician.
