Put a fork in it...winter is over in the lowlands west of the Cascades. But that doesn't mean the chance for a wet morning snowfall is gone (remember that spring snow in early April 2022???) New weather blog post this evening... www.kptv.com/2025/02/27/w...
Windy! A sort of "Baby Bomb Cyclone" (yes, I made that up) arrives on PACNW coastline overnight. Details on timing and strength in my weather blog post this morning www.kptv.com/2025/02/24/f...
New weather blog post this evening: www.kptv.com/2025/02/12/c...
The big message? Confidence up that we've got a widespread snow/freezing rain event Thursday to Friday morning in the I-5 corridor, Gorge, and coastline. Have option to work from home? Plan on doing that Thursday. And yes, most schools likely close Friday. More later in a wx blog post
Quick explanation plus a "best and worst case scenario" later this week in my weather blog this evening. Sorry about the poor timing florists and bakeries! www.kptv.com/2025/02/10/w...
Wednesday forecast unchanged; lots of wet snow showers for morning commute. New weather blog post this evening: www.kptv.com/2025/02/05/w...
I interrupt your doomscrolling to bring even more doom. January 2025 was the warmest January on record globally - breaking the January record set just last year.
Sorry kids and teachers! βSleddableβ snow unlikely rest of this week in the I-5 corridor. Just finished a new weather blog post www.kptv.com/2025/02/04/s...

First Alert Weather Days next week; first winter snow chance in the lowlands. New weather blog post this evening www.kptv.com/2025/01/30/f...
Working on weather blog post later this evening, but forecast hasn't changed. Cold showers (mainly snow) come/go Sunday night through Wed lower elevations. Could impact mainly morning commutes. Watching closely to see if cold arctic air pours through Gorge later next week and causes trouble π²

Finally, hope for some interesting weather. But snow into the lowlands? We'll see. Just finished up a new weather blog post this afternoon: www.kptv.com/2025/01/27/w...
Working on winter wx presentation (it's boring right now). Biggest snowstorms in Portland's history; 3-day totals. We know it used to snow a lot more 150 years ago, but look at some of those storms! Honorable mentions (not in Top 5) are January 1980, January 2017.
25Β° at PDX this morning, edged out Sunday's 26Β° for coldest of winter...so far. Not pipe-busting cold, especially with days in the 40s, in fact good for our gardens. Repeated cold nights like this really keeps them in dormancy well
...more than Portland's combined winter (0) plus last winter's total (1.6")
#SantaMonica: A parade of #Oregon state fire trucks & firefighters that were in #SoCal to help local fire crews battle the #PalisadesFire and others in #LosAngeles making their way out after fewer fires this Santa Ana wind event. Malibu & Pacific Palisades in the distance.

Inversions, dry weather, & chilly nights ahead. Fresh weather blog post this evening: www.kptv.com/2025/01/15/i...
Gloomy again today under the inversion/clouds/fog in western valleys, EXCEPT a small area downtown Portland eastward to the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge (some dry east wind). 3 dots are Hillsboro, PDX, & Troutdale. Drove with sunglasses first 1/2 of commute, then it got dark... Sunnier tomorrow
One more mild & mainly dry week, then colder weather pattern lurks for 2nd half of January. Details in new weather blog post: www.kptv.com/2025/01/11/o...
A historic damaging wind event in southern California this evening with at least two fires raging. The gusts 70-80+ in some flatland locations (Burbank Airport) are particularly amazing
Mild & drier this week; but hints of colder weather in late January. Details in evening weather blog post www.kptv.com/2025/01/06/m...
