If you're only visiting the south bay (and not the city) traffic will be fine. Do not drive in/out of SF for every trip - Caltrain is lovely now and Uber/Lyft are ubiquitous. If you drive, as a fellow manual -> auto it will take 5 seconds then you're done. American driving is 1000% easier than uk

Yeah the red line there is built in an old surface rail right of way, so when the elevated metro was constructed it left this strip of land that's been turned into a bunch of green space. Make sure to check out Beitou station for its excellent flying junction and shuttle train

I'm curious - do you know what the fence down the middle is for? Just to separate workers from trains?
