Guiding Light Fest - relaxing in the mindscape😴

"When you are writing in present tense and suddenly shift to past tense without noticing, it is mainly because you subconsciously revert to the tense you are exposed to frequently. Past tense is more common and traditional in novels, hence the switch without notice. Another reason could be that there is a mix up between narrative and dialogue when writing. Commonly, narratives are written in past tense and dialogues are written in present tense. Also, writers can get mixed up with the timeline. One large contributor to this is writing chunky flashback scenes. To avoid inconsistency, make sure that you know and stick to your choice of main tense. As you write, review your outline or at least identify what timeline the following paragraphs belong to.
